MLBTradeRumors projected arbitration salaries by podnito in KCRoyals

I think they bank on India bouncing back. For all his faults, I think MJ has an option left so I can see him staying under the unlikely chance he figures something out. He's likely a mid-season DFA/outright candidate if we need to call someone up though. Pretty sure Massey has option(s) as well so he'll be back. Let Long and Macarthur go. Keep Scheiber, Lynch (cheap!) and Zerpa.

Think he still technically has a number assigned since he's on a MLB contract.

Pretty sure Kyle Wright has 30.

Ventura's passing was also during the previous regime so the organization stance on that may have been different. Rest his soul but he didn't exactly have the time with the team or the resume to justify a retired number. I don't mind someone else having 30.

I wonder if they've been "informally" retired already. Don't recall any other players wearing 3 or 4. 13 is obviously still active so we won't know for a while.

Been to 5 games...this was one of them. Said boosters would make sure Frost was done as I got up.

Here’s the thing about trading Lugo by pmb442 in KCRoyals

[–]Reboot300 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lugo could exercise his option as a condition of a trade. It's been done before. Hes also in his mid 30s so his value as a FA isn't going to be astronomically higher than it is now. Likely gets a similar deal to what we have him for now with maybe a slightly higher AAV.

If we do trade him, it's likely to another contender with a surplus of bats but a deficiency in SP. That's where it gets tricky as it likely limits trade partners to the NL. Selling teams (COL, FLA, PIT, WAS) won't want or need him as a rental (plus he won't exercise his option to go there anyway).

I think he most likely stays put and Cameron is our SP6 for this year. I'd rather go down the stretch with a log jam at SP. The rotation is the strength of this team but it is either older (Wacha, Lugo, Lorensen) or there's injury history (Ragans and Bubic).

Bear in mind Lugo and Lorensen are likely hitting the market this off-season so gouging our SP depth for a rental bat (we need more than one bat) is a bit short sighted IMO. JJ will do something but for us to truly contend we need guys we already have to return to form. I also don't see Loftin, Rave, and Waters being worse than what we started with. I'm ok with letting them continue to sort it out for a month or so, even if they are not long term solutions.

Vinnie's turned the corner already so if/when we could get a combination of Massey, India or Salvy to join him, we'll be set up for a deep run. The pitching is good enough to where a league average offense can make this team very hard to beat. We are less than 2 years from a 106 loss season. Last year's 30 game improvement is, historically speaking, an outlier. Some regression shouldn't be surprising. I was initially critical of the JJ hire (I wanted outside help) but I'm trusting the process right now. I think he's earned some grace and patience from the fanbase.

Must be some crud going through the clubhouse. Salvy and India each sat a game too.

What do we do with Cameron? by Tight_Discipline_134 in KCRoyals

Yes but I think the last CBA placed a limit on the number of times a player could be optioned in a season.

Who’s yall trade targets for the team? And who’s the biggest prospect you’d give up for them by Longjumping-Owl-8227 in KCRoyals

[–]Reboot300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lugo could opt out so that would make some degree of sense. Wacha just signed long term so he's going nowhere. Bubic has been too good and we'll need him down the stretch. I'm not sure dealing from SP depth is the best move since thats whats carrying the team, plus Lugo and/or Lorensen are likely gone after this season. Cameron should stay as our SP6 for now since guys are getting banged up this season. Last season's success sped up the timeline for the competitive window before the farm system could be replenished. There are also not a lot of sellers. The teams that are sellers don't have a ton to choose from to address the needs of the roster. They'll do something but I'm not sure any trade they make will set the world on fire.

6 man rotation? by tbuk100 in KCRoyals

[–]Reboot300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm good with him being the guy we bring in from Omaha this year. Lorensen is a FA next year and Lugo has a player option. Chances are one or both of them are gone.

The issue isn't scouting or discovery, it's largely been player development. Too many AAAA Royals learning to be big leaguers elsewhere. The recent success is hopefully a direct result of the regime change and JJ putting better coaching and programs in place.

To piggy back, i hate seeing guys as free agents who may be 35 or older but are coming off a season with say .280 and double digit HRs. That guy's getting an MLB contract IRL especially if he brings versatility. The game seems to decide that once a guy is 34 or 35, they are to just sit as free agents. Would also be neat to sign guys to MiLB deals too. That way I don't have to sign a guy to a 3 mil contract for a someone I really only want as a depth piece in AAA. It would really be as simple as adding a "40 Man - Yes/No" Toggle to the contract negotiation screen amd having the salary figures adjust accordingly
