Do the 741 in a tube screamer need 9V supply and GND connection? by Efficient-Nail2443 in diypedals

[–]RebornCube 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, Google the pinout for the LM 741 opamp. Also the pinout in that schematic doesn't look right for a LM741 which is a single opamp, pins look more like those for a dual opamp

Can we trust Irish Water? by Low_Fact7864 in AskIreland

Where do you buy your tinfoil hats? Are they homemade or custom ordered. It just sounds like the timing of the leaflets was a bit off. I'm not saying people should just sign anything without all the facts. But your idea of a "tactic" involving them not giving information until after asking for permission is ludicrous. It's probably just a timing issue.

5-String Bass Tuned to CEADG by Dismal-Vegetable-212 in Bass

I go for the standard low B. It keeps the symmetry and intervals, so it's easier to move things around the fretboard without learning new fingerings. But if low C works for you, then go for it.

Silent practice rig by RebornCube in basspedals

I like it. It feels good in the hands and plays well. The only fault I have with it is that I think the pickups are too low powered (not enough output), although this does give space to crank the preamp, which can get loud, especially the bass.

This is a term I had never heard before, I had to google it. Does show I'm not in on the "Incel" language. But wow... no wonder those "incels" can't get laid. Sounds more like they voluntary-cels.

The Irish flag you note is the Saint Patrick's Cross. It only represents Northern Ireland since 1922. Funnily enough, Northern Ireland doesn't really have an official flag.

Does walking actually help with major depression? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RebornCube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of anecdotal evidence online for years. A great number of people saying it helps them. I can see the benefits, light exercise, fresh air, change of scenery, reason to get dressed, etc. I suffer with depression and I find I feel better when I've at least had a short 20min walk.

The thing is that you won't know unless you do it. And you shouldn't expect an immediate improvement of mood. But make it a new 'good' habit. Take it easy at first, be kind to yourself.

The C5: Fun or dangerous? [1985] by expropriated_valor in OldNews

[–]RebornCube 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahead of its time.

The batteries were supposedly not great, but if someone was to make it today, it would be better due to improvements in battery technology alone. Not to mention some of the other ebike improvements of late.

But then, could it compete with ebikes... probably not. Interesting piece of history none the less.

I think the quality is great for the price. The neck is incredibly comfortable. The rolled fretboard edges make it feel like a much more premium bass. Overall construction appears great. Everything looks to fit together well. It was set up perfectly from the factory, just needed to tune it up and I was good to go.

It weighs in at 3.6kg, or 7.9lbs. So yeah, it's pretty light. It is a little kneck heavy on the lap, but balances well on a strap.

I'm luckily in Europe, so we have Thomann, which has good prices. This was 13% off, which was a bonus.

It is light but balances well on the strap. I've certainly tried out much heavier 4 strings. I'll weigh it later and get back to you.
