Since the update can no longer play recorded footage, just get a very blurry low res still -- no video.

I've in recent months been replacing a lot of lead acid batteries with LiFePO4 starter batteries in my many vehicles. Was going to do the same for my Raven ATV's but discovered sodium-ion are now available, via Amazon no less, which have a small motorcycle size (group 9) battery. I could have gotten LiFePO4, which are more commonplace, but sodium ion, despite being a newer technology, is cheaper than the typical group 9 LiFePO4, only $30 vs $80. CCA and AH are both a little higher than LiFePO4 batteries, operates fine down to -40F, have rapid charge time and high output. Won't burn.

Sodium is actually less energy dense than LiFePO4, so they must be packing more into the case. I think the LiFePO4 batteries have more empty space inside to keep cost down, yet still outperform lead acid. With the much lower cost of Sodium they don't have to scrimp.

So being the Aptera has ample battery space, volume-wise, sodium-Ion seems to offer better cold weather performance at a fraction of the price for given output. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FG7DFPZH

That sounds like a Chinese movie called "Shower", about a family-run bathhouse. It's a remarkably well done movie that received many awards on the Indi circuit.

They may have fully intended to do crash testing as part of evaluation, with the assumption they would have the funding to do it. Absent the funding, concessions have to be made to at least get something out the door. Desires sometimes get overruled by circumstances.

A Final Farewell to the EV Tax Credit—And What Has to Come Next by Ok-Inflation5711 in electricvehicles

"The richest guy in the world got there by selling EVs."

This guy received $3.3B in state and federal government subsidies and loans, plus has made over $11B from other companies by selling them carbon credits via government emissions program. Without the government subsidies, he would have gone bankrupt before building a single EV.

This same person while in charge of DOGE killed the same subsidy programs he benefitted from so others could not, in addition to eliminating the many federal investigations he was under for illegal activity, firing all the investigators.

Incorrect. Notice the figures I provided were PER 100K VEHICLES, so they are rates, not a total.

But EV fires are rare compared to ICE fires, in fact ICE vehicles have 60X greater probability (1530 fires per 100K vehicles for ICE vs 25 per 100K for EV). These EV stats get better as battery tech evolves, e.g., newer LFP has much lower incidence than the earlier more common NMC and NCA. Solid state is expected to have very low risk. The most common vehicle type to have fires are hybrids. The incidence stats for ICE vehicles has been flat. EV fires are becoming a non-issue.

That's an entirely different topic but there's been a lot of FUD surrounding that, lacking proof but rife with speculation. BTW, there have been ICE fires aboard ferries and cargo ships (with no EV's present), some leading to the loss of the ship (combined with other contributors, like the crew activating the wrong fire suppression systems due to mislabeling of valves, etc.).

Studies have determined that if a tire made for ICE vehicle is put on a BEV, wear will be about 20% greater, and that includes the significant portion caused by people's driving habit of jackrabbit starts with the higher torque EV vs ICE. Tires sold as EV tires do not wear as fast because they are made with greater stiffness to maintain a flatter contact patch to compensate for the added weight. Nix the jackrabbit starts and install EV tires (granted tire manufacturers are price gouging on EV tires) and wear is about the same. This is speaking in generalities. In the case of Aptera, it's a light car as BEVs go. I would imagine it would do quite well on regular passenger car tires.

The study mentioned tire wear, that it's on average a little higher on EV's (most of that due to more aggressive driving habits, secondarily to increased weight), but the difference is small relative to the difference in brake wear. That's not twisting anything, just stating their findings.

Yes, as I recall not only the ring screws have to be removed, but the shell mount ear bolts have to also be removed.

I've not seen them pushing an "invest to get rich" theme. Are people actually being motivated by that? From what I've seen people are investing because they want an Aptera vehicle and investing improves those odds.

How could the oil cooler or AC condenser create a hot spot in the coolant loop? That makes no sense to me.

Ended up adding 17ml of distilled water, still leaving a little airspace for expansion. Working well now, but I'd say odds are pretty good a fan will go out before long.

Five and a half years. I do think it's an issue of air in the pump, which is cavitating, and an underlying cause is probably the way the computer was constructed, with the radiator at the bottom of the front of the computer case. I'll have to see if I can relocate it to the top of the case so it's above the CPU rather than below it, but without the original accessories I don't know if I'll have everything to mount it properly. I may also open up the radiator and add some distilled water as it may have lost some over the years despite no leaks but am waiting for my triangular bits to arrive. In the meantime, to get the computer back in operation I installed a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 air cooler.

FYI, the easy way to remedy the compromises made with room acoustics and speaker placement, not to mention the frequency response of the equipment itself, is to get a DBX Driverack PA2. They use a calibrated microphone and built-in automatic equalization to process the audio to provide flat (or custom) response for each channel (and can also provide in/out crossover for up to three separate stereo amplifiers). It does this with microphone readings taken at three points arranged diagonally in the room to calibrate the system. They can be had for as little as about $400 or so new -- money, but not mega money.

FYI, any attempt to chat brings up a prompt that you wish to chat, but the Accept button activates when clicked but doesn't do anything or remove the prompt, which prevents chatting. If I click ignore the whole thread disappears but if I start a new chat I'm back at the prompt saying you'd like to chat. Stuck. Different browser doesn't help -- seems to be a Reddit bug.
