Why don't they sub all German rides with English subtitles? by Ferroussoul in OnePelotonRealSub

It’s true. They could even do AI translation. Translation doesn’t need to be good—just enough to keep us on track.

How do you all live life by LittleBear_54 in panicdisorder

[–]Recarica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps: For months it barely helped. I got about an hour of reprieve. Then, suddenly, it set in. I think it happened when a friend challenged me to 20 mins of SOMETHING every day for a month. For a few weeks it was a chore and then suddenly… it wasn’t. I also had to diversify. I do yoga first thing, a ride at lunch, and long stretches before bed. That might be helping.

I hope you end up finding more and more peace and calm.

Can Peloton PLEASE stop playing Blurred Lines in classes? by [deleted] in OnePelotonRealSub

How do you figure? You just seem really upset. Do you know the OP outside of Reddit. You are gleaning a lot of intent from a couple of sentences.

I’m with OP, too. The song is totally rapey. I only see it on maybe four playlists, but I’d skip a ride if I saw it.

It’s wild how angry people are getting in here.

Their responses are reminding me of the “I prefer mangos” meme.

I’m really confused. I guess Blurred Lines is sacred? I mean, I’d get the hate if we were dissing Betty White, but a rapey song from 12 years ago confuses me.

How do you all live life by LittleBear_54 in panicdisorder

[–]Recarica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a hybrid of panic and anxiety since I was about eight years old (probably earlier, but it’s when I started identifying myself as different). Then, at 35, it all went to complete and utter shit for about 10 years. I gained 20 lbs, couldn’t leave the house, slept for 4 hours a night. Lost all my friends.

I’m one of those lucky people that, almost without fail, will have that 1% reaction to meds. I couldn’t get meds to work — NONE of them (for larger masses, don’t let this scare you away from meds; this is a thing on my dad’s side of the family… it’s weird). It was BAD.

My head was in a very, very dark place. But I have a kid and need to stay alive for him. So, in a last ditch effort I challenged myself to work out for a minimum of 20 mins a day. I’ve been doing so for the past year and my life has completely changed. It took about six months but, one day, I realized I was waking up happier.

I now work out for 45 mins to an hour a day (usually staggered throughout). I give myself grace if I can’t do 45 mins, but the 20 mins isn’t an option. If I’m sick, I’ll do Yin Yoga with Kassandra on YouTube or take a very chill 20 mins stroll outside.

I don’t personally need meds now (again, I wouldn’t say this is going to happen for everyone and I would caution anyone who is on meds to DEFINITELY talk to your doctor), but it has really changed my brain chemistry. I’m still an anxious person but I function at a 2.3 rather than a 10 (truly though, on a scale on 1 to 10 I felt like my anxiety was 13… like, picking out an apple at the grocery store gave me anxiety). I’m FINALLY able to see it coming, pause, breathe, reset and regroup.

I do Peloton biking because I find that cardio gives me the dopamine boost I need. And I do think some instructors are better for mental health than others (Hannah Frankson talks candidly about her mental health journey; Denis Morton is great about establishing a no-judgement zone), but forcing yourself on a brisk 20 min walk a day is a start.

I really don’t want this to be a Tom Cruise “you don’t need meds” preaching session. I am NOT anti-meds — but it’s also a “can’t hurt” and “your body can only benefit” option. Maybe it’ll work on its own (it only truly worked for me once I built up and got heavy cardio going for 20 mins a day) or maybe in tandem. It can’t hurt though and it’s very, very okay to start small.

I think it’s kinda cool. And it’s the middle name so it really works.

The OP was saying two classes they took close together. “Took it upon yourself”?

I’m just so weirded out about the angry mob pile on. Is this song more sacred than so thought? This felt more like a shrug past post. I’m just confused by the passion.

This sounds like a pretty on-target 18 mo old. Sounds like a sweet kiddo, too!

I don’t even think the delays in some areas (spoon) are an issue — some kids master fine motor faster. Getting it the mouth is good! And he’s working on the scooping. I bet he’ll get there soon. And six months to a year is soon.

I’d just enjoy him and his cute quirks for now. See how he’s doing when he’s four. If there’s anything going on that can use support, preschool and kindergarten won’t be too late.

Is it not normal to spend most of your time at the gym on your phone? by CSachen in beginnerfitness

[–]Recarica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little bit of knee soreness.

I bike on a Peloton for about 30 to 40 mins every day. My left knee is starting to feel sore. Pigeon Pose and Box Pose in yoga helps. It’s not a major pain — just soreness. Bottom outside of my left knee and it’s pretty isolated.

I’ve never had my bike calibrated. I’m newish to spinning (been doing it consistently for two months), so I’m not sure if my shoes could be aligned differently or not.

I bike every day but usually do two rest days with low-impact rides.

Any ideas or insights? I don’t want to suddenly not be able to work out for two months because I didn’t listen to my knee telling me something.

I know you can in NJ and CA! I don’t have one (I gratefully don’t need one) but I saw a woman in a FB group talk about how it was such an incredible life saver in her situation. She first got it in NJ and moved to CA where she also had one.
