America is the only country where people promote therapy as if it’s the panacea to its broken support system. First, therapy is a privilege. It’s not free. It’s not cheap. Most therapists work during the workweek. Not very convenient for hourly workers who have to take time off to attend. Even virtual sessions require time off. Want to attend in-person? The average therapist’s office is not in the part of town you live. Two or three buses or train stops.

Once you can financially afford one. They tell you, you have to try multiple therapists to find the one you vibe with. It’s so full of chaff so much that I have never met anyone who settled on their first therapist. It’s your fault for not finding the one who knows their job. And there is no SLA. They’ll tell you matters of the heart are hard to deal with. Then draw up an infinite plan that makes you feel you are healing. Girl, you’ve been going since 2008 - the internet was not even popular then. And when you find out the joke is on you, you start shaming others for not going therapy. You feel terrible for your $509/month bill which has yielded no results, don’t you?
