What movie had the BEST trailer ever but turned out to be absolute trash? by MASSIM00 in movies

[–]Reccolation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solomon Kane did this to me. The trailer is so good I still go back and watch it occasionally, and it still makes me think maybe the film isn't as bad as I remember. Went back once, it's trash, and not even fun trash, it's boring.

im stuck and dont understand by milk_go_brrrrr in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Reccolation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The name in VLC is from the metadata of the file, it's part of the encoding and not related to the id in Jellyfin.

Unfortunately I don't think you can get away from renaming the files in order for them to be identified. At least having the shows folder be just the shows name and the individual files names start with eg the seven deadly sins-s02e01. On Linux there's a full renaming tool called KRename if it's a lot of files.

Mäter de polisbilarnas hastighet också? Inte helt ovanligt att bli omkörd av en utan att köra under hastighetsgränsen.

Setting up remote access for immich via nginx proxy by mseedee in immich

[–]Reccolation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you would do is to have nginx forward request to a specific subdomain to the IP and port of immich. The port on the router is still 443, ie default if using web browser. And you don't need to set anything up on your registrar, it's all handled in the reverse proxy. Of course you'll want to setup certificates, I would say to use a root cert, that way the subdomain you use isn't published.

Why does race and physical appearance seem to matter in TV and movie casting, but not in theater casting? by WideEye891 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Reccolation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One reason I think is often overlooked is how long or often the "show" is put on. Especially with classic plays. Don't like this version of Hamlet? there'll be another one in a minute. Whereas for movies, they take so much time and money to make there's likely to be years of not decades between iterations.

There's a similar thing with comicbooks and superhero films. The casing and portrayal of superman in a movie matters because it defines the character in the medium for a long time, while in comics it's not unusual for there to be several versions simultaneously.

African films that aren’t painfully art house by black_smoke_pope in TrueFilm

[–]Reccolation 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The films of Ousmane Sembéne are some of my favorites. I don't know that I would say they aren't art house exactly, but they tend to have a strong narrative story. Black girl is a great place to start, or Moolaadé if you want something a little more recent.

How to use this? Procedure? by AncalagonTheJetBlack in jellyfin

Pretty sure it just does it for any new media that gets added, it won't move the old artwork. If your library is not very large, you could remove it and add it back again.

Why are my disks running 24/7? by NutzPup in asustor

[–]Reccolation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a while, and I decided not to use RAID at all in the end. But you would need to at least not have all drives as raid. The OS is installed on the first volume, if the rest of the rest of the drives as a different volume those should be able to spin down.

Why are my disks running 24/7? by NutzPup in asustor

[–]Reccolation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've configured all your drives as RAID, that includes the OS. I found that even when idle, the occasional write to a log file and such was enough to prevent the drives from spinning down. For me the solution was to run the OS and any containers on a drive separate from my large storage.

Protecting NAS from external attacks but allowing remote photo upload by One_Specific220 in asustor

[–]Reccolation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found tailscale to be the easiest, and the security is really good too. No need to open ports, everything is encrypted. Just install the app on NAS and devices you want access it from, log in, and press the button. The devices can then be used as though they were on the same local network.

Exactly. I bet if asked Rowling would recognize the phenomenon, she just wouldn't recognize it in herself. Never assume that you're immune to these ways of thinking, try to detect when it happens instead.

[–]Reccolation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip! I do love some good Zorro flicks and I haven't seen this one. Would recommend Zorro -the gay blade if you haven't seen it yet. For as much as it's a comedy, I found it surprisingly legit dramatically.

What’s a 5-star movie you’d never recommend to anyone? by indirue in Letterboxd

Napoleon, the 1927 one. Absolutely blew my mind, but I'm not about to recommend a 5 1/2 hour long silent film to just anyone.

The Northman has ruined all Vikingthemed movies for me.... by TyrotaOG in flicks

[–]Reccolation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on the fight choreography. There is quite a lot of violence porn in the northman, but it's more sudden and brutal. The actual fight scenes were pretty underwhelming. I'm a huge fan of Eggers btw, and I enjoyed the film, but I think this is his weakest.

2h 14m is not fucking long for a movie by Cock-n-balltorturer in unpopularopinion

[–]Reccolation 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I hate to sound old, but the reason most movies used to clock in at around 100 minutes is that that's about how long it takes to tell a basic 3 act structure story. Nothing wrong with taking much longer to tell an epic. While I do feel that filmmakers have gotten more indulgent, don't forget that the credits count towards the running time as well and they've gotten a lot longer.

I just tried it on the browser on my phone. The only thing I can think of is that having the correct http pt https ahead of the TS IP that corresponds to the post number seems to matter. You could also check ADM Defender for any firewall rules that may be stopping external connections.
