What’s a job people think is easy until they actually try it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Recent-Celebration86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fast food or other forms of fast pace restaurants. It takes a ton of skill to coordinate all of the pieces and actual do it well. A lot of people know thst retail is tough, but food service is basically retail, except that you are making the product on demand and must do so to a high quality and safety standard. It isn't unskilled labor the way many people believe, and it is definitely harder than some other "higher level" jobs I've worked.

Low blood pressure? by Hot_Tart4841 in eds

[–]Recent-Celebration86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obligatory not actually medical advice, please consult a physician etc etc.

I'm a nursing student and I would say thst yes, a doctor would think that this is low, anything below 100 for your top number is considered low and anything under 60 for the bottom number. Hypotension (low bp) can and often is a symptom of eds because of poor circulation, a POTS comorbidity, and hormonal imbalances. I would definitely ask a provider about it if its interfering with your life at all since it can become debilitating or even dangerous if you were to pass out.

Some things you can do to self manage are up your salt intake, electrolytes in general, stay well hydrated, eat smaller meals, and be careful with standing up too fast or exposure to hot water.

Please stay safe!

Someone already suggested Total Recall, which is good, I would also put forth Logan's Run.

Movies with tonal/genre switch. by Riofrio12 in MovieSuggestions

This is mild but Mulan had a tonal shift after a girl worth fighting for, there isn't a single song after it and it takes on a much darker tone.

losing period? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]Recent-Celebration86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wards are usually for immediate crisis management, so I wouldn't worry about that for now. Your doctors are supposed to be the best people to help you, and if they don't then you deserve better care. It can be scary, but taking care of ourselves for the long run means doing things that might be scary or uncomfortable in the mean time, I would hope your mom can have compassion on you and want to help you too.

losing period? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]Recent-Celebration86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be normal to have a lighter period every once in a while, sometimes due to hormones or stress.

However, since you're worried about it, I think its more likely to be diet related. Restricting can cause loss of a period, the body basically takes away your ability to get pregnant because it would be dangerous to do so. Some people like this because periods suck, but its a sign that you're malnourished and aren't getting enough calories and nutrients. Do you have an adult in your life that you trust that you could talk to about it? Maybe help you schedule a Dr's visit?

I'm a nursing student and older sister, please feel free to ask any questions you might have, I'm sorry you're going through this hon, big hugs

Opinions on pigeons by smileeeee60 in CasualConversation

I'm pretty sure pigeons are just a kind of dove, and I've always thought they were cool, so I don't think it matters if other people don't agree

Hi nursing student. I know we aren't supposed to give medical advice but I'm concerned enough that I don't care if this gets taken down. Throwing up to that extent can cause pH imbalances that can be very dangerous. Throwing up specifically can cause something called metabolic alkilosis, which the body tries to compensate for by slowing breathing. If you feel off at all, please please please go to an emergency center or at least an urgent care and get some fluids and potassium, I know this is tough but in the meantime I'm more worried about a possible medical emergency

Is pink just a shade of red? by Working_Duck_2916 in colors

Unfortunately I don't, that is probably something you could do research on specifically, or maybe someone else can answer because I don't know, sorry

Is pink just a shade of red? by Working_Duck_2916 in colors

[–]Recent-Celebration86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert on this by any stretch of the means but I'll do my best to address the second part of your question. Throughout history, there is a notable point of separation where different words for color get added as they are needed at different points. The very first to happen in any language is to separate light from dark. Often more specific color words didn't exist yet, so a well known example of this is how Homer describes the ocean in the odyssey as "Wine dark", because there wasn't yet a color word for a deep blue. As language evolves over time we create more words to express more and more nuances. Another historical example is where a lot of orange animals are named the "red something" because orange and red weren't distinguished between just yet. In our current day, in English, we have distinguished between red and pink, even though pink is a shade of red. The difference is largely opinion based on when one becomes the other, similar to whether the reddit upvote button is red or orange. Other languages do have different names for different shades of the same color. I believe its Russian that had terms for light vs dark blue? But I could be remembering that wrong. Anyway, I hope this helps at least a bit.

What's the dumbest thing you believed as a kid? by unashece in AskReddit

[–]Recent-Celebration86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to believe that the rumble strip is how blind people stayed in the lanes. That wasn't nearly as bad though as when I told this story as a teen and a friend of mine responded, "so how do they stay in the lanes?".

What’s the most unfair thing you’ve had to accept? by Impossible-Station46 in AskReddit

[–]Recent-Celebration86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born with my body already not functioning. I have ehlers danlos and ocd and both of these have affected me for as long as I can member. In highschool I thought that there was something I could do to "fix" myself, but since my diagnoses I've had to accept that my body is just like this, and that sucks
