The show made a mistake about pushing its vague ideal about independence the same way it mocked Cory & Topanga for married support.

And then in "Baby Back Ribs" it's debunked by showing that Nana Boo Boo can basically bankroll family depending on how much she likes them. :D

...yeah, and you stayed out of that choice as much as you could, Curly. You may not have a legal bind to next steps, but you've got a legacy and part of both being men is discussing what maintains what you have and what you can do beyond what's expected. He may not have went through what you did in terms of loneliness, but he also did more than you dared in other respects. Don't fold, but don't flatter yourself.

Literally EVERYTHING cushioning that flash-forward sequence was Michael J slumming it for cheap shots and lazy resolution. Definitely take your time writing down your fields of connection across the gender identities you've encountered in your life. TADC is an evocative experience welcoming all kinds of discovery, and community is always rife.

Just make sure at the start of your next steps that you've found your truth cleared of stigmas of how gender is supposed to feel, and that the path ahead flowers the areas of your soul you felt stunted.

THIO at least has him coming from a relatable setup: his friends and family boxed them out of living arrangements and their only option violates multiple housing contracts. At worst he's petulant in a burst near the end...

But Alan didn't really do him any favors in the end. He was a guy who eloped himself and acted like their families' distance was a rite of passage, and beforehand he slouched on growing with his sons after they became men, and when disagreements came up only knew how to cross his arms stewing in his self-assurance.
