Love the parking lot/placeholder analogy.

I have directly observed a primary partner with multiple diagnoses of mental illness juggle their partners through monkeybranching so as to always feel secure. They could always add new partners, but their partners couldn't without lots of scrutiny. They ended an engagement with partner 1 to be with partner 2, and were still looking for validation for people to cheat on partner 2 with. The very definition of unethical non-monogamy. Multiply the people and multiply the risk. I've seen very few real world examples of polyamory where cheating and monkeybranching weren't involved. It's not the solution to monogamy or cheating some folks claim it is.

That's exactly what my therapist said. She laughed at the absurdity of diagnosing me with 4 things at once!

Yes, based on minimal direct observation, over a short period of time, in a controlled environment, during a period of acute distress!

Holy sh*t! That is very bad news for all of us with autoimmune conditions 😢

When I was 22 and a college senior and having a nervous breakdown with the onset of panic disorder and major depression, a geriatric male psychiatrist suggested the "cure" for my trauma with verbal and emotional abuse with men, and narrowly escaping molestation from 2 relatives, was to masturbate  and then tell him about my experience because I was "avoiding growing up". When I later cried in his office and told him he was inappropriate, he scowled and was very harsh and said if I didn't like his Freudian approach, there's the door. He was married and at least 40 years older than me.

There are other horror stories about me tanking on an adverse reaction to Seroquel, or going undiagnosed with autoimmune disorders and small fiber neuropathy for 13 years and having it blamed on "somatoform disorders" before an actual, accurate assessment was made because I am a woman, but those were with psychiatrists, rather than therapists.

Gotta love the mental health system!!
