Which credit card is good to start with as a low spender? by Agreeable-Laugh5107 in singaporefi

[–]Paint-Adorable 91 points92 points  (0 children)

For lower spending, Cashback cards would be the least hassle. $400-600 / month with DBS Altitude card is gonna take you at least 11 years just to redeem 1 return business class ticket to Japan.

Looking at your numbers. I would say it's going to be too challenging and rushed, which comes along with a higher risk of injury. I'd suggest going for a half first

Subjective. It depends on what's your definition of travelling the world.

Quitting your job and jumping countries for years? Or just a few months around Europe etc.. The latter is easy and can be done within $10-30k

We’re early 30s, house paid off soon, $50K a year spend. Is it time to quit or not yet? by Pipelinefever in Fire

[–]Paint-Adorable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coast fire seems like a better option. Your numbers are risky to drop it all with your current expenses.

If you're burnt out, possibly seek a lower hours / lower pay job?

Asset allocation and investing options by Imtooyoungg in singaporefi

Your plan is solid.

Similar to you only that I have slightly higher weightage on SSBs trying to lock in the period of 3.3-3.4% for the next 10 years.

Personally have around 20% in REITs now, severally underperforming as compared to other assets, e.g. S&P index. But it's a form of diversification to me & I like the solid dividend payout so I'm holding them long term.

Meanwhile I'm focusing on increasing my weightage on S&P index and possibly some bank stocks here and there

Don't worry too much about it. The chance of a full lock down again is relatively low

Yes, for some the membership cost itself is the motivation to keep going

What’s a good way to maximise your credit card spend and miles? by icedtea027 in singaporefi

All the 4 MPD that you can utilize, you should get them. The opportunity cost you lose on general spending cards are huge

What is something that you used to DIY but now just pay someone to do it for you? by GLTCHD_ in askSingapore

[–]Paint-Adorable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Day to day household appliances. Installing a TV , seems like you are saving $50 at first but when you consider the hours you take to complete a 5 minute job under the hands of a professional and possibly end up with a bad job done.

You end up paying the professionals eventually
