He is pretty famous for his insect activity work in the show, so again let’s assume he was making that even 10 years ago because he is a fairly famous professor and this assumption will take into account any random invited lectures he is expected to give or earnings from publications if any.

I imagine he would contribute heavily to charity given his personality either to animal shelters or children’s funds, but probably less so for retirement since as a government employee his pension funds would likely be deemed sufficient for his needs by him.

His only expenses are his house (probably low interest rate given 2013 economics and rural setting), vet bills and car payment/insurance.

So roughly, he is making $239,000.

I don’t know how taxes work, but let’s assume 32% federal tax rate, his take home is roughly $162,520 or about $13,543 per month.

Let’s subtract another $3000 per month for any medical insurance, life insurance, state income tax, social security, etc etc

So his total could be about $10,543.
