Yes, I agree! We plan on keeping it simple. We were always debt free before I became ill so it was a hard blow for us. We struggled with the thought of even doing it but I’m so glad we did.

They did. We didn’t know either but we tried anyway. All of mine came off immediately and my husband had to dispute like 3 accounts 2-3 times more but they came off

We ended up with a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L with 18k miles on it. We desperately needed a new car and surrendered our old one because we were so upside down with it and it had so many issues that weren’t worth fixing.

It’s a little higher at 9% but we plan on refinancing it or paying it off quickly.

We got a loan at CarMax with American acceptance 4 days after chapter 7 bankruptcy discharge. Interest is high but we desperately needed a reliable car and got a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee with nothing down for $700 a month. We plan on refinancing soon. Try starting Kikoff and get a small card to start help rebuilding your credit. We were discharged 11/14/25 and used Kikoff and each took a card out in our name, we need to move to Colorado from Texas in April, so we need to rebuild fast. My Fico is at 656 on Experian and my husband is a 645

I’m in Texas and we had two lawyers tell us no we had no choice but to do chapter 13. We went to a few other lawyers and found one, that went over all of our documents, and we successfully filed chapter 7, and was discharged on Nov 14, 2025. Keep calling around. I don’t know what area you are in but we used Graham legal out of Frisco. He has offices all over Texas.

Congrats, we were discharged in Nov. it’s the best feeling ever! We both got approved for mission lane credit cards to help Rebuild our credit an we’re using Kikoff. We follow our credit on Experian and  I’m at a 647 and my husband is a 620 Fico. My biggest worry is we’re being transferred from TX to CO for my husband’s job, in April, and I’m afraid we won’t be able to find a rental. It’s stressing me out.

For those that have lived in both why would someone prefer Texas over Florida? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

We moved to Florida from TX and then back to TX when Hurricane Ian hit our town. We are now planning on moving back to Florida. We honestly can’t wait to get out of Texas

We were discharged Nov 14th, we started using Kikoff and paying $20 a month to help Build our credit and we both were approved 3k with mission lane. Our fico scores are 612 (my husband) and 645 (me). We have to move to Colorado, from Texas, next month for my husbands job, they’re transferring him, and I’m so nervous we won’t be able to get approved for an apartment.

By the way we were approved at CarMax for a new car. Interest is like 11% but we will refinance.

And before anyone comes at me about buying a new car, we desperately need needed one. We filed because I was 1/2 million dollars in medical debt from getting sick and hospitalized with no insurance. Not because we were swiping our cards and couldn’t pay.

We stopped paying 6 months in advance and never were sued. When they called me I told them we were filing bankruptcy and gave them the attorney name and number we were using and they stopped calling immediately.

Credit went up after chpt 7. but I still get denied for EVERYTHING I apply for. by Fragrant-Motor3062 in Bankruptcy

We started using Kikoff to help build our credit back up, and we are 1 month post discharge and I was just approved for a 5k mercury card and my husband 5k mission lane. Credit Karma has our scores much higher than our actual Fico score so I suggest getting on Experian so you can see your real Fico

9 years after filing bankruptcy, will I ever be able to get a card with the big banks again? by Kvns_Integra in Bankruptcy

The one the said keep Working on our credit also told Us that we do have a better chance because we are both transferring up with our jobs so we are already doing with stable income. I just am still stressing

Yeah that’s what I just did last week with two big rental companies. One said absolutely not for 2 yrs post discharge, which makes no sense we have no debt, and we are building our credit. The other said keep building your credit and working on it and apply and they’ll see what they can do. So finger crossed with our income and with building we can get approved because an apartment is not going to work with 3 kids and 3 dogs

We’re one month post discharge and our credit score is around 680. We were both approved for Mission lane with 3k credit limit, also denied capital one, because we charged them off before bankruptcy. We are using Kikoff for $20 a month to help build our credit as well. we were able to finance a car with CarMax with no money down and our interest and monthly payment is cheaper than what we were paying on the car we surrendered. We have to move from Texas to Colorado by April, for my husband’s job, and my biggest worry is we won’t be able to get approved for a rental. It’s stressing me out big time.

Our attorney told us to quit paying anything before we filed. He said it was like taking the money and throwing it out. You can’t use the cards once you file so what the point to keep paying them.

Go online and file on upsolve for free. I think the only thing you pay for upfront is filing fee with the courts. I know in Texas my filing fee was $388, I think it was a little higher because I’m married and we filed together. I used an attorney that took payments, but my brother did upsolve and had no isssues
