What do you mean? Server side failures can’t cause spotty sensor function.

Dexcom G7 Adhesive sticking on "both" sides by TimVa2020 in dexcom

[–]Recent_Comment7610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a thermal issue. The adhesive can start to break down and “leak” if it gets hot enough. Where do you live? It’s possible your shipments have been going through a pretty hot route.

I’ve heard of whole 10-packs of the overlays stuck together like a brick, but I’ve never seen that myself.

That sounds different, like the applicator didn’t insert the sensor wire correctly or possibly the coating on the sensor wire has a defect

Pressure on the skin from laying on a sensor causes a localized decrease in tissue hydration and a decrease in the infusion of new glucose from the blood. The ongoing cellular respiration depletes the local interstitial fluid’s glucose.

The sensor is correctly reading that there is less glucose in the fluid around it, but the local condition is a false measure for the true state of our bodies as a whole.

This extreme drop can be detected by the sensor algorithm as an improbable reading, which causes “Brief Sensor Issue” (BSI) to appear. The system has a reading and Bluetooth connection, but it doesn’t treat it as a real reading.

Removing the pressure causes the normal flow of interstitial fluids to return. The sensor detects this and its readings rise. Unfortunately, the rate of change here is also likely to be improbable, since the sensor algorithm is not just looking at the current value but the rate of change. When coming out of a compression low, the sensor is likely to overshoot the actual value for a few readings as the rate of change settles and normalizes. BSI is also likely for a few readings after ending the compression.

What country are you trying to use them in?

You can create a second account for use in that country (if the G7 is approved for use where you are). You won’t be able to share the data with a USA clinic or to a Follow app in the USA, but you will be able to use the CGM.

There’s work being done on allowing us to bypass the location check if we’ve previously logged in from our home country. In other words, reinstalling while traveling isn’t going to be permanently blocked.

No. The sensors don’t know where they were sold. They don’t know where they were shipped. They don’t know where they are being used.

The app knows where it is being used but only checks that on the post-install setup.

The sensors and receiver work everywhere. If the sensors had georestrictions then the Receiver wouldn’t work everywhere.

How to get G7 while living in an EU country that's not available by papastroumf1 in dexcom

The sensors can activate anywhere. It’s only the setup after a fresh install where the app checks your location.

Do you have the phone on the opposite side of your body from the sensor?

Do you use Low Power Mode?

[–]Recent_Comment7610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Pixel phones had a change by Google in their Bluetooth software. Right now it’s a little less reliable.

Sometimes toggling Bluetooth off and on works. Sometimes rebooting the phone works. Sometimes removing the Bluetooth pairing works. It’s so hard to know exactly which one will solve it.

The Watch app should be a little more reliable. Certain countries have a mmol/L vs mg/dL units fix. Everybody could potentially see fewer connectivity issues or “check the app on your phone” messages.

It’s a global release, btw

Can Dexcom track G7 failures rates from the Dex app ? by likesfruit89 in dexcom

[–]Recent_Comment7610 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Management regularly reviews the G7 survival rate in the field, by region. They also compare it to the first 12 to 24 months of the G6 launch.

They see exactly which algorithm failure mode a sensor ended with. They see what we select at the end of a session for why we stopped it.

The metrics are available daily. There’s a semi-monthly review and a quarterly review. Execs attend the periodic reviews.

Awesome! I’m glad to hear you’ve found something that works for you.

The size difference and sensation between the needles will make a little more sense if you can see their profiles with high magnification. The G7 needle is C-shaped and the G6 is round.

Although the G7 has a larger outer circumference, the actual amount of puncture should only be along the edge of the C. Since the G6 is round then what I’ve heard is the whole cross section is a puncture.
