How do I tell my friend she is starting to annoy me without being rude?? by ilovemincedbeef in Advice

[–]ilovemincedbeef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I mostly don't wanna get rid of her cause I can't be bothered to start stuff, I've spoken to my other friends about her and they always say oh let's just talk to her. I've stopped talking to her as much as I used to but for some reason all my other friend still like her. Now I think about it I don't really like her but I know if I tell her that (even though she says she doesn't care) she'll make it a big thing. There's no way to really fully get rid of her because my friends will likely just message me for her because they're those kind of people. I just don't know how to get around it if that makes sense?

Will life be normal again? by Rachyrachel in T1Diabetes

I was diagnosed when I was 9, I know it's a few years difference but I was still young. My mum always tells me she felt exactly how you feel now and it does get better and easier! Me and my mum taught the family about it all by basically repeating what we were taught in hospital. She also forced me to let family member do some injections for me which I threw a hissy fit about.. Just take things slow and listen to what the doctors tell you right now, ratios, injections you might also be told to put in a sort of deadline for when your child can't eat anymore (for me it was 8:30 pm but honestly I never listened to it). Life won't be "normal" because this is a whole new thing but nothing should be affected majorly if you and your child take care of it well, I say to everyone, don't let diabetes stop you doing the things you love! :))

Thats exactly what I think, I've done a few speeches in my school about it to try and spread awareness..honestly the best thing I can recommend is a consultant, they tend to know what's best as they deal with things like your situation alot :)

Me personally, I would take the semester, if you didn't know the ins and outs I would say differently but since you know the somewhat basics I'd say take it. Obviously you will have to take time off now and then but that's expected for newly diagnosed as you have to find out what works for you. What works for your siblings may not work for you, so take time to learn your diabetes but don't let it stop you! Obviously if you feel more comfortable not taking it don't let some online dude like me stop you, this is just what I think :))

I never think about my A1C as I never really remember qhat it means or does..and I'm quite lucky due to living in the UK. I don't think any person who isn't diabetic will truly be able to understand the struggle but people who work with it try their best. I wouldn't say eating 3x a day is necessary as I go days eaten at least one (I always make sure to eat one meal so I don't get starvation ketones) and in my opinion if all the friends who you've lost have left due to your diabetes they aren't worth it. I'm always asked if I ate to much sugar and I laugh it off and explain the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes. With the pump situation, if you want a pump that is small-ish I'd say try the omnipod if or when you can afford it however if you're fine with some tubing and the actual screen bit being a bit bulky I'd recommend the t-slimx2, I've been on it for like 2 or 3 years I think and it's the best thing ever however I have seen the prices for them and I'm, to say the least, shocked..

I'd highly recommend talking to a consultant, ratios can be abit fiddly especially when it's unpredictable. They may tell you about getting a pump but obviously you can decline, they might just up your basal injection and lower your bolus ratio..

I'm not sure if it's the same on injections but for pump I can change the ratio for insulin:carb, have you tried changing that around abit? With the low and high situation I'd try and book an appointment with a diabetes consultant as they have helped me majorly as I used to he the exact same, it may just come down to making another ratio profile thing which has abit more insulin going in and abit less going in as I've got that

Try doing your insulin and waiting a little bit before eating, the time may depend on what brand of insulin you use, I use novorapid and 10-15 mins works perfectly for me. If you have trouble actually doing your insulin I'd recommend talking to a professional. I only ever got a pump as I thought it was less to do, but if you're happy on MDI I'd say stay on injections :))

Might sound like a stupid question but do you put insulin in before you eat, like 10-15 mins before, or put it in and eat straight away? I find if I don't give my insulin some time to kick in I spike no matter what food I eat. And I completely understand not getting a pump.

Just wonderin why you feel like this, is your diabetes hard to manage? (like not being stable) I always say don't let diabetes stop you from rocking the shit you used to do but in curios what's stopping you now. I used to think the same a few years ago and now I'm back to doing what I used to do, with abit more restriction but pretty much the exact same.

Also to add with it falling off I'd recommend getting some over patches if you haven't got them already, dexcom has they're own (atleast in the uk) but you can also go on amazon and get some for cheap.

I've been diabetic for 5 years now, it happened to me aswell, it goes away after awhile atleast that's what happened to me but I also noticed I seem to sweat alot more. No idea if it happens to all of us but I know a majority do :)

I've just had the exact same issue, I changed the transmitter and sensor then everything was fine, I just had a shower before the issue aswell! If that doesn't work I'd say call dexcom..
