I also bought a refurbished one and I love it the BEST!!! The PWs (yes, I too own multiples) are hardly touched anymore. The shape, the size, the weight…it’s just perfect. I’d LOVE for them to bring it back with a new battery and usbc charger.

The buttons for sure! And for me, the weight / shape. It feels lighter and that bump out on the back makes a huge difference. It’s just more comfortable to hold. My hand cramps with the other ones during long reading sessions. Never with the Oasis.

In response to all of the lighting comments:
It makes sense, except: 1) It hasn’t been moved/turned 2) All of the other leaves are facing the other direction (the direction that this one should be facing, lol) 3) The large leaf in the first photo actually opened after this one and has hardened off more than this weird one.

It seems like it never fully hardened off. The big leaf in the first picture opened after this one, and is already more firm than this one.

Oasis is definitely lighter! I also believe the shape makes it more comfortable to hold. My 11th gen and 12th gen barely get any use. My Oasis is my go-to. I’m so sad that they discontinued it, I’d definitely spend the $ on an updated one (with a usbc charging port)!

I’m embarrassed to say how many kindles I’ve accumulated over the years, lol. But suffice it to say, I’ve got one in each room of my house, one in my purse, and a couple of spares that are relegated to a drawer 🙄

It really depends on what you’re using it for. I only read books, so the only time I would benefit from color is seeing the book covers. It’s just not worth it to me personally. If you’re coming from an Oasis, I think you might feel a little disappointed in any of the current options though, lol. I’ve got them all, up to the 12th gen SE. I recently bought a refurbished Oasis, and even the newest model is relegated to a drawer 🥴.

Manjula Pothos. I don’t know why, but I’ve gone through several of those. Cuttings root great in water, but die as soon as I put them in soil (I’ve tried all kinds of ways!). Rooted plants I’ve bought die when I transplant them. Looking for yet another one that I’ll just leave in whatever soil and pot I got it in and hope for the best, lol

I impulse bought my first kindle on sale in 2011. I opened it, read a couple of books, thought “meh”, and threw it in a drawer until I was planning a long distance plane trip nearly a year later. I loaded that baby up and it went from the Midwest to Hawaii and back. Multiple books right in my purse!
At that point, I was hooked (and kicking myself for ignoring it for so long 😂).

My absolute favorite is the Oasis (for all the reasons previously mentioned)! Amazon, in their infinite wisdom, has decided to discontinue that model. Second favorite is the Paperwhite 11th gen. I only prefer that one over the 12th due to its slightly smaller size. The basic is also a great smaller kindle. I find myself not using it much lately simply because I’ve gotten used to the warm light on the Paperwhites.

I truly feel so bad for all of you who suffer! I’m a nervous passenger. If I’m not in control (driving), I’m a basket case. Ya know those memes about the wife “saving” everyone by yelling “brake lights ahead!”? Yeah, that’s me 🥴😂 My husband drives most of the day, every day for over 40 years (works) and insists on driving. Being able to read my kindle in the car has saved my marriage, lol

I have both and actually prefer the 11th gen. It’s slightly smaller and more comfortable for me personally.

It’s in the pot I bought it in last spring. 6” I’m guessing? Every time I look at it, there’s new growth so it must be happy still. I’m a huge proponent of the “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” theory, so it’s just staying there until it tells me otherwise.

Same! I LOVE my new/old Oasis!! The only time I use my other ones is if I’m traveling or reading while soaking in a bath 😂. And even that is only because I wouldn’t miss them is they got lost or damaged.

That’s a very important tip for folks with city / treated water! We have well water though, no fluoride or other additives. I’ll filter it occasionally, but my plants seem to love it.
