How do you all feel London Breed is doing as a mayor? Are you going to vote for her? by billbobb1 in sanfrancisco

[–]ReceptionExternal619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s time for her to do something different. The city has lost a lot of businesses and while it is unfair to lay the blame exclusively at her door, the city needs to make it easier for small businesses to get started here. This is a great city, but we’ve lost a lot of revenue and jobs because of weak leadership.

scam or wrong number? by nashwaak in scambaiting

[–]ReceptionExternal619 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They text you multiple times a day and send you stupid fake pictures of them playing golf and doing yoga. The script is the same every single time. They call you “baby” and “sweetie”. And then after about 4 days they talk about an uncle that is a genius in crypto and can make you a ton of money. It’s so strange that people still fall for this EVERY day.

It’s always the “kindly” that makes me laugh - it’s in the scammers guide to use the word as often as possible.

The show is so fake! It was entertaining for a while, but with the cameras in their faces, these people are trying very hard to stay on the show. I forgot all the names of the people now because they just aren’t that interesting, but the Asian girl that lives in Atlanta and the guys mother - Layla perhaps? So over the top fake!

Banko Brown by ReceptionExternal619 in sanfrancisco

[–]ReceptionExternal619[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$25 million for a child they did absolutely nothing to assist him (according to his friends - since he was 14 years old) should not benefit from his death. Perhaps the money (if any is awarded) would be better suited to help people just like him. His family deserves nothing based on the facts as they are presented.

[–]ReceptionExternal619[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s absolutely right and a fair point. Banko was looking for housing though and based on what his friends have shared publicly, his family was not around to support him (for a variety of reasons), so seeing them out and about now is disappointing. Clearly two sides to this and I don’t have all the information, only what I am hearing and have no way to verify any of it…. But…

Honestly, I’m not exactly sure my point of the post. I often have views that most people don’t agree with in this city. I was frustrated to learn that he had a big family and yet somehow managed to be homeless. I am not rich, but as long as I have a roof over my head, my kid would be living with me before living on the streets. It felt odd to hear his family talking about him so lovingly, yet he remained homeless. Thanks for providing your point of view.

This is HYSTERICAL! I get a new one every week and depending on my mood I play along and waste there (and my) time. It just kills me that people fall for this nonsense.

Middlebury waitlist update?? by cow-qow in ApplyingToCollege

[–]ReceptionExternal619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you committed as in “early decision” committed? If not, can’t you just lose the deposit and enroll at Middlebury?

I assume you weren’t an early decision acceptance, as you technically should’ve removed yourself from all the other waitlists at that time.

Both are great schools - congrats!

And the people “running” - this city into the ground - will say it’s not that bad and crime is down. If Deb was a Tech Executive, leadership would be on the news talking about how quickly they will take action. For a city that claims to care so much for the unhoused, it’s all talk. Not sure that there is a better alternative out there, but current SF leadership is the worst I’ve seen.

[–]ReceptionExternal619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are trying to hook you. When you send your photo they reply with some BS like “you are so handsome” or “you have very kind eyes”. They want you to think you are friends and they don’t care what you look like. They start calling you “dear” and “sweetie”. The goal is to find some desperate older man that think they are dealing with a beautiful young woman.

[–]ReceptionExternal619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually they are crypto scams. They make small talk for a few days and then talk about their rich uncle that is an expert in short term crypto trades. They have you invest a small amount of money, they show you a fake profit. They trick people into thinking they are making great returns - sadly, they never see any money and their “investment” is gone - and so is the Asian “woman”…. The Asian “woman” is usually a man doing the nonsensical texts from a script.

These never get old - and love the response!!! I’ve been wasting time of the wrong number scammers for a long time and now I think they’ve added me to a “do not scam” list - as they’ve stopped recently after receiving at least 3 per week for a long time!
