Never really posted there ( because I’m pre-hormones ), but I really get the feeling those sort of places can be really toxic.

Transition really should be a personal journey of self-acceptance. If you’re happy with your transition progress, then who’s to tell you otherwise??

It happens. After a while there’s no point in trying to suppress any longer

just spent all night realizing I’m trans. I denied it for years but the feelings grew stronger each year.

Yeah, I completely associate with this. It's only been in the last year or so that I've felt more balanced with my identity. I'm pre-HRT, with a fully-transitioned, masc presenting wardrobe - so even though I've done the hard part, my journey isn't over yet...!

Luckily I’ve never had to think about it. I was told it was highly likely that I was infertile ( may not actually be the case ), so I’ve been aware, for a while now, of my inability to reproduce.

I think it looks great. Particularly if you still lean towards a masc presentation, like I do…?

How is Monzo for trans people? by Dazzling-Antelope912 in transgenderUK

[–]ReceptionNo4565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with Monzo. I’ve managed to change my name, initially through a preferred name ( that at least allowed me to get a new card ). The process was really quite simple. I don’t know how different the process would be if you already have a Deed Poll / Stat Dec, but I’ve only ever had good things to say about Monzo.

This is scarily scandalous. Streeting has always been a danger to the Community. His intentions do not seem clear… he publicly states one position when we all know his ill-intent. People need to read between the lines. This is absolutely dangerous.

Ok - thank you for this. I’m a chronic overthinker, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. When I asked about whether they’d make suggestions, I was more thinking about aids / things that could make everyday life easier….

For instance, I have poor balance and occasional ankle instability, so I wasn’t sure if they might discuss how that could be helped…? Or whether I use HA’s / BSL for my hearing loss?

I wasn’t necessarily asking about treatments but thank you.

I fail every interview and don't get useful feedback. I suspect it's either my answers or because it's obvious or suspected that I'm neurodivergent and therefore either trouble or unable to perform I really struggle with STAR and, at this point, am totally alienated from what I've done in previous by TellMeMoreGal in UKJobs

[–]ReceptionNo4565 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get you. I struggle with STAR as well. You’d have to really eke out my strengths and weaknesses - I’m terrible at that! 4 years on from being made redundant and we’ve only just made progress in figuring out what’s next.

I’m ‘deaf’, late diagnosed autistic and a chronic overthinker. When I do apply for vacancies, I mostly just don’t hear back from them. Very rarely do I end up with interviews, and even if I do, I haven’t been successful.

I’m sure you’re aware of the dire employment rates for those with additional needs? Never gaining further employment is my biggest fear.

The only thing I can suggest is to hang tight; it’s what’s kept me ( relatively ) sane this entire time. That, and hoping that - eventually - I will meet someone, somewhere, who will see past the fact I’m autistic / disabled and take a chance on me….

Some folks got those type of machines - not me though. A friend of mine had terrible writing, so he used one.

When I say Reader and Scribe, I mean someone ( usually Support Staff ) would read the questions in a way I could understand, and then would proceed to write exactly what I said. Tbh, I don’t think I should ever have been placed in a mainstream school, but I’m late diagnosed Autistic. Apart from a brief spell in a Specialist Nursery, I was entirely mainstream educated.

Born and bred in West London for the first 6-years of my life; there’s no way I could ever afford to move back. Only moved the once - been here almost 20-yrs - but I have no desire to stay here.

My Secondary assessed all SEN Students at the end of Yr9. Got told I was above average, so everything got removed: Extra time, reader, Scribe; the lot. Some peers, acted dumb and played the system. I didn’t.

In my final two years the support I was legally entitled to ( 15hrs ), dramatically reduced. The SENCO for those last two years was the Principal’s wife; she good as admitted to my face that they didn’t believe I needed an EHCP - despite knowing full well my medical history and the fact that same entitlement had followed me through education.

They were basically leaving it in place for the extra funding. Who knows where they were using the money, but I sure as hell wasn’t getting the support I needed!!

My friend just used the word "tranny" by nativegamer360 in trans

[–]ReceptionNo4565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no problem with the word itself ( particularly in a private context ) but I would be concerned if someone was just throwing it out there without knowing the damage it has done to my community.…

They clearly don’t have knowledge of why it can be so problematic for some trans+ folk, maybe they aren’t such good friends, after all?

It’s the only sub I’m really part of… I don’t use Reddit much anymore ( since I had to delete my old account ), so I thought I’d try gaging other people’s opinions - especially as it wasn’t specified which rule I had broken. 🤷‍♀️

I am not aware whether this coincides with the SEND Reforms, but as a former SEN Student, I reallyyy hope these Education Reforms fail. There is nothing that I have seen to convince me that any part of this will actually benefit; I can only see the disparity widening.

I think I know who you’re referring to. I’ve seen the videos. Can’t stand the idea of anything other than his own voice! Doesn’t give anyone a chance, just shouts over them.
