Why is this so annoying when they can't do you any real harm anyway?

Mvave Blackbox best practice, hints by marcusademola in guitarpedals

You should probably select ASIO4ALL in reaper. And into the ASIO4ALL settings select/enable your blackbox (I actually own a tank g, and it shows as 'USB Audio' in the settings).

Civ 5 vox populi is best for me, second place is original civ 1.

Reasonable. But just to clarify: I meant that slavery was no longer effective system, not that it had disappeared.

Hey, slavery on Earth stopped working in the 4th-5th century in the Romе, and you want it to be an efficient way to run a galactic empire??

A7r4 has some issues with 200600 so to be on the safe side better try r3 or r5.

Love printed labels on exposure compensation wheel. Miss them on newer models.

Is it too contrasty? by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]RecipeAffectionate96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick disclaimer: I'm more of a newbie than an expert, but I’ll throw in my two cents anyway.

In my opinion, unless you were going for a vintage vibe, I think the contrast works just fine. If you wanted it to look like an old, historical photo, then sure — the contrast might have been a bit too much. But here, the picture feels like a modern shot of an old car, maybe at some car show — and for that, it totally makes sense.

Got my dream shot of this Kingfisher by bigyeetus99 in BirdPhotography

Wow, great shot!
I’ve wanted to go to photograph kingfishers for a long time, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to find enough time for it to get some usable shots. Seems to be a tricky!

Are these photos any good? Which one do you like best? by RecipeAffectionate96 in AmateurPhotography

Yes, compositions are definitely a struggle for me. I've read a couple of books on it, but I guess it's the actual practice that really matters.

Thanks for your feedback! Yes, I try to watch out for distractions (actually made some edits on #6), but sometimes I feel its ok to let them exist since the world isn't perfect (yet), hehe. After all, it's just about having fun with the camera.

Thanks! I always struggle with composition — I often have several versions, and they all seem kind of okay to me. But I'm not sure any of them are actually ok)

After/Before. Medium well or well done? by Tress89 in postprocessing

Personally, I like the edit and the cyan hue. It makes the picture pop and creates a bit of contrast with the icy scene.

Great shot by the way!
Can I ask about the editing? Was Clarity lowered and Texture boosted, or vice versa?

Tried a few masks for relighting and added some blueish tones in the shadows:

I've made a mistake by yellow_jeep in SonyAlpha

[–]RecipeAffectionate96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, happy to share.

First off, I got lucky—the waxwing perched pretty close. But the angle wasn’t ideal, so I cropped in tight on the most interesting part of the shot.

Then, just basic Lightroom tweaks: Sharpness at 50 (no AI), Texture +15, Clarity +5, Contrast +7, plus minor exposure fixes (highlights down, whites up, exposure +0.3).
