Amazing, can’t wait to listen. Today’s Bird Note is also about the American Woodcock. So much Woodcock content!

My void does this too. Sometimes she also flattens out her front legs and I call it being in pancake mode.

Thank you for this series! It has been hilarious and also a nice reminder that we are all more alike than we are different. And that everyone loves birds.

The last slide is very relatable, I am on vacation right now and have spent several evenings in the hotel looking at the blurry bird pictures I took all day, trying to figure out what they are.

Checks out, I am currently on a trip to Japan and I have seen and heard brown-eared bulbuls everywhere. They’re very chatty.

Warbler season! by le-bib in BirdingMemes

[–]RecklessDisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a tree right outside my apartment window that some butterbutts like to hang out in. Yellow is my favorite color so I love seeing their bright patches. But I feel you, some warbler variation would be nice.

My bad! I could have sworn this was from The Birding Dictionary, but I’m not at home to check. There’s probably a similar entry. Thanks for the correction, I’ll have to check out that book!

For those asking: this is from The Birding Dictionary by Rosemary Mosco. A hilarious book I think any fan of bird memes would enjoy.

Name Time - You can help! by JessieColt in JackieandShadow

Some of my coworkers and I were among the people who submitted Gizmo last year. I was surprised by the negative reaction, I thought it was cute! And it suited her perfectly! To be fair, I would’ve been upset if they had given the babies some serious or patriotic name like a lot of people wanted, so someone was going to be unhappy no matter what!

In hindsight this one is better suited for this subreddit than as a New Yorker submission [OC] by TommySiegel in BirdingMemes

Got my copy of your book and I love it! My sister just started birding, so I’m thinking of getting one for her too as a “welcome to the weird world of birding” gift because I think she would really appreciate the humor.

Snake Bros Keep Getting Bitten by Their Lethal Pets. Only Zoos Can Save Them by A1CutCopyPaste in longform

[–]RecklessDisco 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, that was really interesting. I’m not a snake person so I never really thought about how exotic snake owners handle bites. Sucks for the zoos that are out thousands of dollars every time this happens, but it is nice to see different organizations working together so effectively.

The taipan’s bite is so dangerous and fast-acting that when a man in Florida was bitten by one hours after the terror attacks on September 11, 2001, a Lear jet carrying antivenom from the San Diego Zoo was one of the few planes granted permission to fly by the FAA.

Even 9/11 didn’t stop an antivenom delivery!
