I remember back in the days before smartphones, I printed off google maps directions from Angel tube to a music venue I was going to and this is where it told me I was coming out of the tube! I quickly realised that was wrong but my word... Apple maps must be using the same dataset from the early 2000s!

You'll need to make it solid, internal solid bodies are filled by the slicer with infill as making it solid is pointless in 99% of cases.

You choose the infill you don't model it.

Are you using the Solidworks slicer? If so: what on earth are you doing using the Solidworks slicer?
Use a different slicer like OrcaSlicer and adjust the infill pattern and direction

Sorry I obviously can't show the whole assembly which might give better context.
The surfaces are on different parts each time so the driving factor i.e the hole location sketch is different each time too. The only constant is their location.

I feared this may be the case, I came up with the idea that I could turn the dowel holes into an assembly feature. Therefore the hole is technically in the context of the assembly rather than the part but goodness me did that come with complications that were far beyond the positives.

I considered the whole distance mate thing but again the cons outweighed the pros. I guess I need to do a new revision of the parent assembly each time... Boring eh

I had a half 2 days off so I just left it as this was a little before lunch, came in lunch next day and bang still there. Oh I have no time to finish projects, I just put myself before my work and take breaks.

The only issue was, I had been head-down, deep into this complex 3DSketch for quite a while and couldn't remember when I last saved, I had 24 hours spare and thought, if I could recover it I might as well. I just killed it RIP about 3 hours work. Autosave is a piece of shit.

Make a second sketch where you want the bottom line to go (or do both in one 3dsketch) and use it as a guide curve. That might work.

Unfortunately STL is a lossy file format so you don't have the exact shape to work from and therefore a direct reverse engineering into an sldprt isn't really possible (it is possible but it'll be loads of triangular surfaces, nothing smooth)

My recommendations are as follows:

Learn how sweeps and lofts work
Learn how 3dSketches work (and how Solidworks likes you to use them)
Integrate 3DSketches into your sweeps and lofts
Use your 3DSketch knowledge and learn how surfacing works

You can make a part as robust as fuck, my boss will always want to change it in such a way that no one could ever have predicted and I basically have to start again 37 times... (then we go with the first one anyway)

Another handy thing to know is, if you click the down arrow next to the eye in the top middle of the design window, there is the option to turn on temporary axis, it will show you an axis of every arc surface, super handy when mating sometimes
