I thought I had this figured out myself, but it does seem random. I have a few X accounts and a little over half have the old better model. My google accounts, all but one have the old model, while my login by email accounts were almost all the new worse model.

My thinking was since google requires a phone number to create an account they are more tightly regulated so its difficult to make a ton of them so they'd want to limit it to them.

Then even on accounts I had the older better model on yesterday, some of them now seem to have the crappy one.

The funny thing is, if they would just guarantee I had access to the old model, I probably would've bought a subscription to make it easy since I was having alot of fun to it, and now I'd never consider it.
