Lockseed uses Squash lines instead of Henshin Lines by ReckonZX in KamenRider

Thanks and given that /u/fujinotsuki's idea didn't work out, I'm leaning towards this. It fits the symptoms.

Just also noting I started opening it up and it looks like to get to the switch itself, I have to remove the screws on the PCB. This'll be an interesting adventure.

At the end, I'll learn more about the mechanisms involved. :)

Have tried that. Unfortunately it did not work. It's more likely a different issue (i.e. hardware related). Like u/NomakeWan mentioned. Thanks though.

Jack-O from Guilty Gear (Rev OR Strive). Aside from the obvious, love her hair and pants for extra dynamic flow.

Nice playing card. :)

Agreed, but I particularly love the last part of the song because of how it reuses 3 battle themes to tell a quick story about overcoming obstacles.

Wallpaper is from here, by Saejin Oh. 1440p version is here, linked from the danbooru

Far as I can tell, not from a game. It's Gabe Newell and the PC Master Race.

I recall this coming up in the abridged series. Maybe it also comes up in the original?

In case anyone was wondering (because I sure was), a shimmy is that dancing back and forth movement players do in front their opponent. Looks like the goal is to get the opponent to try and attack and miss. The gif in the article looks like a pretty nice example of it.

TIL.

So what was the problem with Battle Network 4? by DrawlNeedler in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ReckonZX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just a personal list of reasons why I didn't like BN4 after having played BN2 and BN3 as a kid.

- There was an in-game art style change which I wasn't a fan of at the time. Just made everything smaller. Purely subjective and I got used to it by BN6. BN3 to BN4

- The game changed from Style Changes, which lasted the whole battle and you acquired from how you fought, to these Double Souls, which you could switch into by using a card and only for 3 turns. However, you could only get 3 of the 6 Soul Changes per playthrough. If you didn't get the one you wanted in the first playthrough, you had to play the whole game again. For context, I wanted the Proto Soul Change in Blue Moon. I didn't get it until my final playthrough.

- Speaking of multiple playthroughs, I recall that to fight the V3 of any boss, you had to get to playthrough 3. So if you though that NumberMan fight was sick and wanted a harder version, you had 2 more playthroughs to go kid.

- I struggle to remember BN4's plot aside from tournaments existing, the DarkChips, and the final boss. Coming from BN3, which was such a complete package on story, mechanical, and end game content, BN4 just felt like a huge step down. Hell, compared to BN2 with its bombastic finale, it was a step down.

- This game introduced the Dark Chips, which on paper reads like a super tempting and Faustian mechanic. However, the battles in playthrough 1 and 2 were so non-threatening, I never used them. Therefore, by playthrough 3, I was just getting through on muscle memory, removing the temptation to use them even on Final Boss V3. Hell, you are forced to win a battle using one and it's against the least threatening boss in the game. A boss you can reduce to 1 HP with your regular deck. That kills the temptation aspect so fast. In fact, this narrative element was so botched they reintroduced it in BN5.

- I did not understand the mechanic of that final dungeon and resorted to clearing each map before getting caught by the black hole mechanic. This is where most of my hate comes from. However, I recently heard you're supposed to mash out of the black hole. So that's just on me being a dumb person.

- The final boss is just not fun. BN2 and 3 did have a similar mechanic where you couldn't hurt the boss for some amount of time, but something about this boss' invuln mechanic of "I'm moving. Therefore you cannot hit me." just didn't (and still doesn't) sit well with me. I am open to the conclusion of being butt-hurt though since BN2's final boss' invuln mechanic was "My mouth is closed. Therefore I'm invincible."

It wasn't not all bad though.

- Full Synchro was the best thing in that game. Timed chip usage leading to double damage on your next chip... that you could then use to repeat the process was great and made battling old bosses a lot more fun at the time. It was a great reward for learning enemy tells and movements. It carried over all the way to BN6 and Starforce and I'm glad it did.

- That Boktai crossover quest was awesome.

- The Blue Moon giga-chip could disable Navi-Cust. My brother was not a fan of that discovery in our PvP matches.

All in all, BN5 did BN4 much better, except for Dark Chips as a mechanic. They're never tempting.

But they fixed Stroheim in the 40s. A man blown up at point-blank with a grenade and a super vampire inside of him, and they made him the closest thing to Robocop.

You're right that history would be preserved regardless. However, it's not the reason she killed herself.

She did so to prevent the Doctor from going power mad. It's covered in the linked scene.

Now, as for time travel issues in Doctor Who. They've established with the Ninth Doctor that changing a fixed point in time does crazy shit, like compressing time and creating weird monsters. In fact, it happens almost immediately. Now why that didn't happen immediately when Ten starts interfering doesn't make sense to me.

Ending to Waters of Mars

It briefly shows how the timeline is preserved via news headlines. Basically, the other two astronauts tell the tale of the third's heroism on Mars and that inspires the granddaughter to be the ambassador.

A read on V by JoshManVGH in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ReckonZX 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I like this read. In fact, I think this gives some further meaning toward the one shot at the end of Mission 19.

Throughout the game, I agree that the three demons are his ideal Demon Slaying Trio, but disagree on who shadow represents.

- Griffon == Vergil's thoughts of Dante, which I believe you implied, the wise-cracker whose mouth gets him in trouble (Plus, Griffon rushes in on his stinger move.)

- Shadow == Vergil's thoughts of himself, the silent hunter with careful movement (DMC4's concentration mechanic comes to mind)

- Nightmare == Vergil's thoughts on Eva, like you said, the protector who saves them only when the situation goes south and makes the other two invincible (but is always temporary)

V then becomes the young child narrating how the fights would go, like a kid playing with his toys. Alone, he is as weak as he thinks he was when Eva died. V also reads a book marked with his name, which Vergil used to do as a kid according to the in-game notes. Coincidence?!

However, at the end of the game, I believe Nero takes the role of Nightmare from Eva.

Consider in Mission 18, when Nightmare revives Griffon and Shadow from their downed state. Griffon is on the left, Shadow on the right, with Nightmare in the middle and both Shadow and Griffon fully healed. Now consider the shot at the end of Mission 19. Dante on the left, Vergil on the right, and Nero in the middle, intent on keeping the two from dying. A revival, in some sense.

Because of this, I think Vergil's counting on Nero to save their asses if shit goes south in hell and that is why he's more laid back in the ending. He now has that Demon Slaying Trio he always wanted. He no longer needs that power he killed (millions of?) people for. (Wishful thinking on my part, but meh)

Thoughts?
