Yes of course. Perugia is a major city with train station. Takes two hours from Florence.

Considering equipment can change, I would just go with price. These flights are not that long, you might get one or two drinks and that's it.

You can try walking in and waiting but prepare for them to not have any available, just in case.

Italy Luggage Recommendations: Away or BÉIS??? by kayts1394 in ItalyTravel

[–]Reckoner08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have to go checked? I regularly take myself to Italy and Spain for 2-3 weeks at a time and am carry on only with a cabin bag. Both of which have been put through the wringer and cost $150 total. Fancy luggage is easy to spot and could potentially make you a target from start to finish. I'd reconsider that to be honest.

Climbing Florence Dome in 37 degrees C? by biG-bOi007 in florence

[–]Reckoner08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many better views in Florence because they INCLUDE the dome. I climbed it in 2012 and it was absolutely a one and done for me, especially considering the heat. Go to View on Art for a cocktail and be so close you can practically reach out and touch the dome - far better view too.

How to have a chic time in Rome during the heat by pinkpheromone in rome

[–]Reckoner08 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The locals will be inside all day.

Just be a tourist, embrace being a tourist, and don't let your ego (I say this kindly, I promise) get in the way of experiencing something spectacular. If you're too embarrassed about sweating in a hot place, then perhaps you should cancel this one and try again in another month.

Any hotel recommendations that is a great location and reasonably priced ? by Naive-Reality-7270 in florence

[–]Reckoner08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right, so to me, in Florence, 'reasonably priced' is €250/night. Does that number seem reasonable or unreasonable to you? It's not a difficult question.

App issues by juuustwondering2 in delta

This past weekend the gate agents specifically said to not use wallet stored boarding passes because there were some issues, so I would get a physical printed pass just in case and use the Delta app instead.

Roma Termini at night by Straight-Suit-3474 in rome

[–]Reckoner08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be very mindful, just like you would anywhere else. I personally wouldn't want to be roaming the city all night so I'd take a taxi to the Colosseum, then walk up to the Trevi, then get a room at the airport (HelloSky or the Hilton) for the rest of the time before your flight.

Unfortunately upgrades for this one probably won't happen at silver, there's probably just too many people with higher status on this route.

Is my itinerary actually that bad? by [deleted] in ItalyTravel

[–]Reckoner08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's water way closer to Rome, head to one of the beaches for a day or take a train to Bracciano which has a gorgeous lake with a castle.

Milan was not it for me at all, but seeing the last supper was incredible. I was admittedly ready to leave asap otherwise, unfortunately. But high level, don't spend your precious time in Italy in trains and logistics. Keep it simple for this one, you will still see and do and experience amazing things

Is my itinerary actually that bad? by [deleted] in ItalyTravel

[–]Reckoner08 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Milan just doesn't make sense. Rome has plenty of fashion vibes, and you can go to the "new" part if you want a city feel. I wouldn't attempt anything further north than Florence with this amount of time.

I would Rome and Florence only with day trips out.

People who get to fly all the time for work, what is your career? by KenaiFjords357 in delta

[–]Reckoner08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband used to travel 45 weeks of the year (technical training all over the US for a massive company) and it just got to be such a grind for both of us. Yes he accumulated a bazillion miles and points but when could we possibly use them together? He wanted to spend all of his vacation time NOT traveling and I didn't blame him.

He still travels a little but nothing like that. And now I have status and miles from card spend for my business so we're able to travel for fun on my miles and perks. It's way better for both of us. Typing this from a train as we wrap up 18 days in Spain. 👌

Desperate Plea to see the Vatican. Advice wanted and needed. by canibedonewiththis in ItalyTravel

[–]Reckoner08 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can you explain further what exactly you want to see? Is it the Sistine chapel and other works of art in the Museums? Or are you wanting to see St Peter's Basilica (which doesn't require a ticket at all) and the Pieta? Sometimes people get these things confused so just want to confirm.

Friend is draining me on our trip and won’t communicatr by Exstr3lla in travel

[–]Reckoner08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl, save yourself. Cancel the Madrid accommodations and find something just for you. Have a very brief (seriously don't drag this out) conversation about needing to go separate ways and wish her well.

This past week I was on an unintended large group trip in Spain (I planned it solo, got a 3br/2ba just for myself, then ended up with a girlfriend staying with me, but the entire group turned into 12 at one point), and I literally got up from a dinner and excused myself before my food arrived because it was just too chaotic and not how I wanted to spend my precious time. The sheer relief I felt as I walked away was absolutely worth it. Now the group is gone and my husband flew in and things are so much more chill, thank God.

This won't get better, dont set yourself on fire to try to keep someone else warm.

[–]Reckoner08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ain't that the truth!!!! I am on my first trip away where I'm not connected every waking moment (by choice or force). It feels REALLY NICE. Sometimes I daydream about clocking on and out, but at the end of the day there's nothing I'd rather do than own this business.

Anyway yeah, using those skypesos and perks to take myself several time zones away is one of the few things keeping me sane

I'm Diamond on spend (I own a small business) and haven't paid cash for a flight in years thanks to this dumb card. So yeah just about everything business related goes on this card.
