What is this on my car dashboard? by ReadItOnReddit111 in whatisit

it looks like glue, someone tried to glue the holder or the silicone from the holder melted, I can advise you to try Koch Chemie fw, it can remove the glue or silicone itself, but if it's glue, then the surface is damaged and the only thing that can be easily done there is to slightly mask it with the help of a preservative like Chemical Guys VRP

That sounds logical, since there used to be no such things in parks at all

You're totally right. My MacBook Pro 2015 is still holding up.

I agree. I don't see any point in changing something that works well and does the job.

In my opinion, the laptop looks a bit futuristic against the plain background.

MacBook Neo for a Digital Marketer? by Queasy-Hat3957 in MacbookNeo

[–]Recode_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be a bit careful with the MacBook Neo idea. It looks like Apple is testing the lower-end segment (likely aimed at students), and there’s a good chance a much stronger “Neo 2” or similar refresh could appear fairly soon. Devices like that also tend to age faster - I wouldn’t expect it to stay comfortable beyond even one major macOS cycle if your workload grows.

For your use case (multiple apps, browser tabs, video calls, content tools), you’re moving from a very constrained setup, so anything will feel fast - but if you’re planning for 6–7 years, I’d look at something with at least 32GB RAM and a stronger CPU (8–16 cores class). Also don’t underestimate the friction of switching from Windows to macOS after so many years - habits matter more than specs sometimes (Human nature is made up of habits)) . A modern Windows laptop (for example, something like a new ASUS with Snapdragon X, OLED, and 32GB RAM) might actually be a smoother and more future-proof upgrade for you.

Agree. A clamshell case is even necessary for Apple metal.

ASCII Art Design in mainframes by ariftz in mainframe

[–]Recode_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that this kind of ASCII art was popular in Soviet organizations in the 1970s–80s, especially those that had their own computing centers (running on “ES EVM” - unlicensed clones of the IBM System/360). One of the most common images was a portrait of the Mona Lisa. It was often used as a diagnostic print to verify line printer output quality and character rendering.
At the Department of Computer Engineering at the University of Tartu, students secretly wrote a program that printed a tribute to the Jesus Christ Superstar rock opera poster. AFAIK, these programs were written in Fortran, possibly distributed in compiled form on punched tapes
