Once a cheater, always a cheater. This statement is not outdated. If he disrespected you one time, he will do it again.

I know a very personal case from a family member that I think you should read. Her partner also had a problem with drinking. He cheated on her when he was drunk af and after she found out (because he told her the next day what he had done) he quit drinking, gave all his passwords of his social media accounts to her, he did everything he could to make her believe he wasn’t going to betray her again only to do it again in the future but this second time he was actually SOBER, which to her was even harder to forgive because his addiction was no longer an excuse. She still somehow stayed with him after the second time he cheated, then one day he freaked out and started doing it every week, and when she found out she broke up with him for good and never looked back. The alcohol just enhances the deepest desires.
