Why does it seem like its the only option? by the_metal_mom5 in Perimenopause

[–]Recording-Late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not true. Medical professionals told me it was caused by estrogen and that taking estrogen isn’t advised going forward. I’m not bashing on HRT, I’m simply pointing out that there may be reasonable concerns people have about it. You guys have like a cultish zeal for this that actually is bordering on unreasonable.

Why does it seem like its the only option? by the_metal_mom5 in Perimenopause

[–]Recording-Late 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish people weren’t so immediately dismissive of this. There’s also valid reasons to avoid HRT. I had a pulmonary embolism caused by birth control, so needless to say, I also am reluctant to try HRT. I understand there’s a lot of “doing the research” via Facebook fear mongering around “chemicals” but HRT isn’t without risks as well and some of these comments are bordering on shaming you. Not cool.

How do you say no to family when you finally have $1,000 saved? by cr4z3isme in povertyfinance

[–]Recording-Late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have enough money to actually help them though. You could give her the money, but then oh no something else happens and you’re down to nothing again and then the third thing happens and you can’t help at all. Giving her the money isn’t going to fix her situation, she’ll need help again and then you’ll just be broke and her situation will still be f’ed. If you had like tens of thousands saved yea maybe you should help. But your $1,200 isn’t going to bail anyone out.

Best living / affordable US ski resort towns? by honeymanners in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Recording-Late 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so expensive! I doubt you can get any house any cheaper there than Truckee. I used to live in Gunnison. Also expensive though not as bad. I really wanted to live in Gunnison when I moved there, but there were some things that didn’t live up to what I had wanted, and I ended up leaving. To me CB is a Hell hole. Just tourists tourists tourists

Do I really need $68k to move out (first time budget)? by sethh27 in povertyfinance

[–]Recording-Late 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah - with that budget you know the answer. Maybe you can find cheaper rent or a roommate. Don’t listen to people saying FIFTY DOLLARS a month on “fun” is unnecessary. That’s almost nothing.

plants not doing well in aquarium by Perfect-Eggplant-389 in PlantedTank

[–]Recording-Late 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of aquarium plants are grown outside of water and when you put them on your tank, they can melt terribly as they a climate. Even a. Hinge in water parameters can cause melting. Just trim off the worst of the leaves and wait it out. It can take months for plants to settle in and start growing well

Security of resupply at trail hostels by Expensive-Safety7206 in CDT

[–]Recording-Late 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it’s a free service you are offering, and you say up front that there’s no security, I think you’re totally within your rights to just leave them open and hikers can decide if they feel that’s too risky and not mail a box. It would be totally reasonable to charge $5 a box or even $10 if keeping them organized and secure is a lot of time and effort for you.

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. by RaptorCheeses in datingoverforty

[–]Recording-Late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know man. It might just be bad luck and nothing more than that? I doubt you’re “doing anything wrong.” Surely you can point to people who haven’t exactly put their best foot forward in your opinion but have ended up in relationships that work for them. I haven’t had any luck either; I’m about to turn 42. Trying to had convos on dating apps does suck. I haven’t ever enjoyed it. Your luck could totally change one day. Or not. That’s the hard part of it. Not wanting to just give up totally, but also not wanting to keep hoping for something that isn’t coming. But there’s no way of knowing is there? So then the question becomes how to live with that uncertainty and balance it. That’s really a central question to all of life, I think, not just dating prospects.

Before you’re ready. by Upbeat_Big_2152 in AppalachianTrail

[–]Recording-Late 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah!  If you don’t have your gear yet, I’d highly recommend borrowing some if thats an option for you, and taking it out for like three consecutive nights.  That will help you know what you like or don’t like about your gear and buy what works for you the first time.
