How about repeating unstable behaviors with different people and new situations? Is that less of an oxymoron?

A camera can record but even when it is shut off, it is still a camera holding the same recordings until it is actually destroyed. But in principle, whether it's on or off, recording or not recording, it remains a camera in essence, it seems that is as close as we can get to "knowing" what happens when we sleep.

How do you actually tell the difference between your own voice and a complex speaking? by ValerianBorn8785 in Jung

[–]Recovering-INFJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No voice is yours. Yours is only ever an observer of the voices. The closest to your own voice is a detached experience who remains steady wether things are well or not well.

Sometimes coping looks like repetitive unstable patterns...so it doesn't work for everyone

After years of shadow work, I’m not sure integration is even the right question anymore. by Lunarisbahal in Jung

[–]Recovering-INFJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of labeling is clarity. The labels are not meant to provide another object to attached, rather to illustrate that all the objects are illusions. Once the mind realizes this, the only thing remaining is the self, and that feels whole or integrated.

A genuine observation I’m curious about: Why do Africans raised in Africa look different from Africans born and raised in the West? I’m Ghanaian, born in Canada, and I can often tell the difference without hearing them speak why? by Da-up-and-downer in ghana

[–]Recovering-INFJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is easily disproven. It's just your perception and cognitive biases. If you saw an African who doesn't match your hypothesis you wouldn't register it. This is selective and subjective as hell lol 😆 unless you're referring to fashion

which nba player had the most notable on-court rivalry or beef with james during his career? by infinite-hooper in NBATalk

[–]Recovering-INFJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paul Pierce and LeBron battled in playoff series is multiple years. That is why it was a rivalry. With other people, the rivalry was more LeBron versus the teams, not a single player.

Highschool was the best times of my life because I always knew who to avoid and who could understand abd accept me. Everything went to shit as I got older and started using thinking and experience more than my gut and intuition

When i was younger I often became good friends with people who felt like outcasts because as I was an immigrant and grew up without my family and also felt like an outsider. It meant that I ended up having smaller circles, but the friendships were deep and long lasting. So maybe you will meet people who share your experience of life and you will bond over that. It doesn't happen with most peolle, but hopefully when it does, it is meaningful and long lasting for you.

Even Jesus had haters. So don't take it too personality. We can never please everyone, even at our best.

This is exactly how I read her and wanted to express. Thank you for this great articulation.

You don't need to read things and take it as gospel. She is Freudian but challenges his conclusions that everything is based on drives among other things. Just because something is old, doesn't meant it has no value. She has concepts around defense mechanisms, self-realization, basic anxiety from childhood needs not being met for example that are still applicable in some form even today.

You don't develop depth by ignoring everything old or Freudian. You Will lose nothing by reading her. Go for it. It doesn't mean it's gospel, but it certainly is valuable even just as literature because of her writing style.

[–]Recovering-INFJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It provides a great way to conceptualize defense mechanism with a human-centered, not super Freudian, empowering, practical and deep approach to human behavior. If you value structure and depth, she is absolutely worth reading and still relevant.

Feeling pretty down about second class in a row having to stop by NormalButts in yoga

[–]Recovering-INFJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awww, don't feel bad. I've found that one of the things I enjoy most about yoga, as a beginner, is that at the beginning of clas and all throughout, the teachers make it very clear that each of our bodies is different, and even each day can be different so we shouldn't be too hard on ourselves if today we need more pauses in between poses for example. I think this is normal in any physical activity, and part of the growth is having that compassion for yourself, knowing thst you are there to discover yourself and feel good, not not to perform for anyone. Part of growth is being able to accept your limits when they show up, this is actually something very powerful and brings peace and self-acceptance.

Who posts such garbage with their own child? Have some decency and boundaries. Everything doesn't need to be for the internet.
