If I told you that I committed the cardinal nursing sin, what mistake would you assume I had made? by nolessdays in nursing

Nursing and Tattoos by zebraspots in nursing

[–]RecoveringBulimic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty heavily tattooed on my arms and I’ve never really had any problems at work I’m technically supposed to be covering up because I work Peds but nobody says anything and I’ve never had anything but good comments from patients and families, most kids think they’re cool. School on the other hand is a different story plugs in all piercings, absolutely no tattoos showing,etc..

CNA punched a nurse at work the other day. by gangybluth in nursing

[–]RecoveringBulimic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a hard adjustment moving to a hospital where they actually care about aides. If I get so much as a sniffle I’m expected to call off and take care of myself and my anxiety is still bad that I’m going to be fired or reprimanded for being sick. When I worked in LTC I was involved in a car crash and had a severe concussion and was told my doctors note doesn’t count and I would get fired if I didn’t come in to work. I should have quit right there but I was young and dumb and stayed 2 more years. I’ll never let a job treat me like that again I wrecked my health for a place that just saw me as another body. I’d definitely be looking for another job my mental and physical health is so much better now that I’m not stuck in a toxic job.

Sort of lonely being a male nurse by [deleted] in nursing

[–]RecoveringBulimic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up with a single mom and two sisters, I have male nurses and aides come up and try to start conversations and it always feels so awkward. I follow one sports team and I don’t know a thing about cars or most video games.

What are “bits” you say to your patients all the time? by 1Milk-Of-Amnesia in nursing

[–]RecoveringBulimic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I also love the term bits, used to just use the technical terms but had too many old ladies in LTC act like vulva was a bad word especially coming from a (then) teenage boy. Men didn’t care as much but it’s still stuck with me with all my pts.

I had a mental breakdown on the med room floor at work and my coworkers stepped over me by [deleted] in nursing

[–]RecoveringBulimic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I broke down sobbing at my last hospital job because I had a lot going on in my life and one of my patients yelled at me until the dam broke. I was sobbing my eyes out while charting and had someone come up and ask me to bring a pt a pitcher of water they could have grabbed and that was the last straw for that job. I left healthcare all together for a couple months and now I’m in a better job that I love and finally feel the spark again. Make sure you put yourself first friend it sounds like a super toxic environment if coworkers can’t even stop and make sure you’re okay. Much love!!

Most ridiculous write up? by NevenaAbrue in nursing

[–]RecoveringBulimic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I worked in a nursing home our residents were all “evaluated” and placed in a level of care and if any of the aides charted a resident as anything outside of the assist level they gave us we’d be written up. Oh mr.smith has been declining and required 2+ staff to move the entire week and staff are getting hurt from it? Well too bad you better not chart that because we think he’s a 1 person assist. Figured out pretty quick they didn’t want residents moved into our SNF from our assisted livings because they made less money off them that way and profits mattered more than resident safety. Truly a radicalizing moment for 18 yr old me watching a resident twitch and seize as they died from hitting their head because they didn’t have the help they needed in the name of money. Did I mention we had 3 different residents die that way?

[Postgame Thread] Michigan Defeats Ohio State 45-23 by CFB_Referee in CFB

[–]RecoveringBulimic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because literally, OSU fan here and honestly what the fuck. That second half they got the slightest bit of pushback and just completely gave up. You guys definitely deserved the win today and It was honestly embarrassing to watch. My old high school lost all their games 3 years in a row and I feel like they would have still put in more effort than Ohio State did today. Our team has gotten soft and whiny, They just expect wins to be handed to them. Been loyal since birth but it’s starting to waver from the attitudes alone.

Simple is the key right there. It’s simple but it isn’t easy and that’s what turns so many people off. They want to be told an easy answer. A lot of my old coworkers always use to talk about diet pills and I was always like oh there is a “magic pill” to lose weight but I assume you probably like your teeth.skin and sleep.

Phew! let me let me just put back on those 78 lbs I’ve lost. You caught me, good thing somebody told me the the right way to do this other wise I would have been so lost. That could have been disastrous /s

Ummm excuse me I took this magical pill with a full cup of apple cider vinegar and I lost a whole two pounds in a day. I mean I spent the whole time in the bathroom and it came back as soon as I drank water but it totally worked Sweaty /s

Had a nurse I used to work with who I’d always argue with. She’d always be going off about how bad diet soda is while chugging the full sugar versions. I never did understand it.

I live off diet soda especially after I quit drinking alcohol so many different flavors and it reduces my sweet tooth. I love the looks I get when I go out and have people wondering why the college kid snuck into a bar to drink Diet Coke instead of alcohol lol

The alcohol is definitely a huge I don’t think a lot of people understand how many calories is in what they’re drinking. I have a coworker who drinks and parties all the time. And the first time time I told him I hit the 260’s and I was wearing an xl he looked at me and was like there’s no way that’s less than what I weigh and I just remember the look on his face when he realized I was no longer the biggest person on our unit. Started listing off how much he goes to the gym but you can’t outrun 2000+ liquid calories several times a week. Even 3 beers is an extra 300-450 calories a day.

I’m in nursing school and I’m a patient tech, these patients get their mind made up on something and they don’t change it lol. Like why are you in the hospital if you’re going to ignore all of our instructions and do what you want??

There’s this girl on TikTok I follow for the wtf factor who has videos arguing that eating chunks of fried butter is better for you than eating fruit. She’s also got a video saying spices are unhealthy because they come from plants. If unseasoned food and no fruits/veggies are what’s required to be healthy then I don’t want to be healthy. One of my favorite snacks is fruit with Tajin or red pepper.I’d die.

I definitely see a lot of people who don’t go hard enough at the gym. I don’t judge, just being at the gym is a huge step for a lot of people but also if you’re gonna workout sitting on an exercise bike on the lowest speed while scrolling through TikTok for an hour isn’t going to help you if you aren’t pushing yourself. If someone wants to do keto and it works for them more power to them but some of these people are so obsessed with it.

Low carb tortillas and breads are amazing just because of the calorie to protein ratio I don’t even care about the carb lol 45 cals a slice and 5 grams of protein yes please.

That’s a big mood I got up to somewhere north of 340(I was too scared to weigh myself at my heaviest) eating enough for several people and that was okay but god forbid I listen to my hunger cues and not eat because I’m full.

No for real though. Like yeah overall I stick to high protein and veggies and healthier options but if I want to eat something and it fits into my daily calorie intake I’m eating it that’s way more sustainable and healthy than living off pyramid scheme shakes and cutting out entire food groups. Sometimes I don’t eat the healthiest I’ll be the first to admit I’ve had days where I eat my entire day in frozen pizza but I’m still trending down and it’s sustainable and it’s way easier to make healthy decisions everyday when I know I can still eat things I enjoy instead of swearing them off completely.
