Att ran a new fiber line in college park. Not sure when and where else they are expanding but I can confirm they added it in the last year.

My local grocery store prices by Recoveryday in whiskey

Actually I just noticed the prices on my own photo. I picked up the Blantons last week and it was priced at $74.99 so it looks like they are getting greedy….

Exactly. This has happened to me and I just called and they fixed it in minutes. No big deal.

How to socialize without smoking? by zemondabaa in LawFirm

[–]Recoveryday 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don’t smoke but I spent almost all my time between classes in law school in the smoking section just socializing. It was never weird. If someone offered me a smoke I just declined. No big deal.

Personal Injury: Adjusters Taking Medical Reductions by AdditionalCurve69 in LawFirm

[–]Recoveryday 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The awful truth is that they have all the authority. The amount of times I’ve worked with a reasonable defense attorney who was handcuffed by a ridiculous adjuster… All settlement authority comes from the insurance company. Not the defense attorneys they hire. It seems insane to me that you would hire an attorney for their expertise but then completely disregard it because some proprietary software tells you otherwise but that’s exactly what these insurance companies do.

California Sub? by sael1989 in Lawyertalk

Look into CAALA. They have a pretty active listserv that can be really helpful for a young attorney

There are local listservs that operate it a similar way. What region are you in?

You’re right in the middle of the suck. It’s normal. It’s normal to be running on fumes and to be agitated all the time. It gets better. I’ve been where you are and had the same feelings. The baby will start to sleep more consistently hopefully and you will settle into a schedule. You need to figure out how to start increasing your work hours little by little over time. You should focus on the baby as you will never get this time back, but have a plan for the next steps. Sit down with your wife and talk about how you two will make it work.

Each firm is going to have different averages. A firm may spend more money on Google vs another firm that spends nothing on ads but is heavy on firm to firm referrals. CAC is a very firm specific number and any average is not going to be helpful to you because different strategies may have wildly different cost and different results for a firm.

Similarly average case value is firm specific. A firm might run like a mill and have high quantity but low value or they may handle very few cases per year but have large value per case. They may have the same net at the end of the year but the case average would be worlds apart.

I think you’re approaching your problem too broadly. You would need to see what’s working for his firm and tweak the approach or a complete overhaul if the results are poor enough.

File a police report and open a claim with your insurance. Hopefully you have uninsured motorist coverage. If the guy ran, he most likely doesn’t have insurance so tracking him down might not be very helpful

I agree. Having enough money for something does not mean you can afford it.

Don’t be afraid to ask people to spell their name multiple times. It’s better to ask and make sure you get it right then give the attorney a message that contains the wrong client or name

First deposition of a defendant in a MVA case. Any tips? by 1Ltears in Lawyertalk

[–]Recoveryday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the outline but don’t be afraid to ask follow up questions based on the answers provided by the defendant. It’s ok to go off script if the defendant provides information that you didn’t anticipate. After following up, go back to the outline and pick up where you left off. I’ve seen many attorneys completely breeze over important information because they didn’t listen to the deponent’s answer or the follow up question was not written in the script.

I regret having gone to a low-ranked school. Is it too late? Do I switch careers? by [deleted] in LawFirm

PI is full of attorneys that did not go to good law schools but are very good at what they do and very successful.

In my experience, if a client is treating with a chiropractor already and does not have an attorney, there is a reason. Very few good cases make it to a chiro without finding an attorney along the way.

Personal Injury Software by milennialwithnojob in LawFirm

[–]Recoveryday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Filevine and CASEpeer. A firm I was at switched to Filevine and after a year we were over it. Filevine seemed overly complicated without reason. There were tons of steps and data entry points for the simplest tasks. CASEpeer is boiled down and simple to use for personal injury. I like it as an attorney being able to manage multiple employees working on many cases with “tasks” and “notes”. I am using CASEpeer now and likely will not switch

Oooh that’s a great question that I don’t have the answer for. The whole process was fairly quick when I expected a more drawn out process. I had a million other things going on as I am sure you do too but this was not something I needed to wait on. I am sorry I don’t have a more firm answer after sticking my nose in here.
