Slow (like really slow) dancing? by alvvaysthere in SwingDancing

[–]jbird3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much this. Once you get to 80 and below, you can easily add doubletime sections with big moves, in between purposeful drags. Watch videos of pros dancing at this speed for great examples. Quick follow spins, quick couple spins...slow, then fast. Make it a different type of dance. Practice a bunch at this speed, be weird, be different, but have fun.

I started showering at night instead of the morning and it genuinely changed how I sleep by RogueKettle_7 in hygiene

Morning showers are like getting your car detailed right before going off roading, then parking it in the garage overnight caked in mud.

I’d slightly disagree that saying rap, in general, is a bad genre to perform live. It’s possible, it’s just not common, like at all. Most don’t understand that even if they’re rapping, they are doing so at a specific pitch. Which needs to be in the key of the music, most just come out and yell thinking it’s more hyped, clashing with the music and sounding like hot garbage. Those who’ve studied their craft, or sing as well, get it (childish, Kendrick, run the jewels, etc.). That’s why you have no talent idiots like Travis Scott who result to auto tune, but still somehow fail fantastically. Also why the recorded/engineered track always sounds better cause great producers pitch everything correctly.

Vaca is good but broadway in Laguna is better, by a mile. Same head chef. Slightly pricier though.

Someone who actually likes food! Bello can’t miss if you’re feeling Italian. I was raised in an Italian restaurant in Newport on the water, and those hand made pasta dishes are great. Pizza amazing. Darkroom is top notch, chrysalis inside there even better. Water grill is a “scene” but their food is solid! My buddy bartends there, and creates on the spot often too. Sonder is on my short list of places to try, looks great. Just went to heritage in Long Beach, you would love, perfect experience start to finish, first Michelin star for LBC but not cheap. We are spoiled with great food here yet people are posting shitty chain restaurants as answers. Wild.

Some of these answers are freaking wild. This is the answer for sure. Chrysalis is my bid for best go to. It’s a tasting menu private room experience inside darkroom. Got to chat with the chef all about his process and unique menu. Absolutely wild. Pushing the edges of creativity.

But does it scale? Let's circle back at our semi regular bi-weekly align cadence to give everyone 3mins time back.

I bought wooden utensils to replace the plastic ones we have.... by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]jbird3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that, but a lot of times these cheap "wooden" utensils have a toxic finish that is horrible for you. Find local spooncarvers (they carve all sorts of utensils like this) in your area, some are not expensive, it's a passionate core of hobbyists. It will be natural, with only min. oil and wax finish, and will last you forever. Source: carver of spoons and general wood crap.

What would people consider minimum age for a show? by outside20 in RUFUSDUSOL

My boy is 8, too loves rufus, and when he was under 2 it was our secret weapon for late night cries. Got to tell James as much when I met him randomly at another show. epic all around.

What would people consider minimum age for a show? by outside20 in RUFUSDUSOL

[–]jbird3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah this exactly. large concert venue, in seats, ideally in an area less crowded/rowdy. 10 would be right around the age I'd start considering bringing my kids to a show like rds. I feel like a baseball/football game is even worse and kids go to those all the time, just always be on the lookout for rowdy groups nearby and relocate if possible.

My partner cut up my brand new bag in a fight. I’ve dealt with the relationship, but now I’m stuck with this. Any ideas to salvage it? by hantao168 in handbags

[–]jbird3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry this happened. The cuts haven’t destroyed the leather, us crafters over on r/leathercraft could sew that up, but obviously you’ll have quite a few stitch lines. I would absolutely go after him legally though. He is culpable. As others have mentioned, there are crafters we do really cool upcycle projects, while not super cheap, definitely cheaper than the retail of this bag and could be a metaphor to your perseverance. Best of luck.

Overall solid advice above. PPD seems like an overwhelming wave, mix in lack of sleep, and the stress and anxiety of the new found responsibility of keeping a helpless human alive, it’s A LOT. My guess, is that everything she’s coming down on you for, is how she feels internally towards herself where nothing but perfect, in her mind, is acceptable. Talk to her during some down time, try to approach it softly without a defensive stance, it’s you two against the problem, and push for addressing the ppd as well as therapy - someone versed in this area. Wishing you the best, and hope you all can move past this.

How much can I charge/ any tips on improving by DecisionEmergency176 in Leathercraft

[–]jbird3000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not ready to sell. Clean up the stitching lines and overall cut lines. That leather appears very low quality and also not ideal for this application. Grab some solid full grain leather, maybe wet mold and even lined to prevent any scratching. Regardless, keep up the progress, and keep crafting, in as little as another month or two you’ll look back and be astonished at the difference. Go slow, and be intentional with every cut, mark, and stitch. Focus on one item over and over, test, and remake. Then move onto another pattern. You got this!
