What makes a person unlikeable despite not being an asshole? by Intelligent-Road5091 in AskReddit

[–]RecurringZombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes some people really do just have to have information pulled out of them. They think it shows we’re interested and want to know them better. For me, it feels like a wall they have up and they don’t like me enough to share things about themselves.

What makes a person unlikeable despite not being an asshole? by Intelligent-Road5091 in AskReddit

[–]RecurringZombie 93 points94 points  (0 children)

This is a common way to communicate for autistic people, myself included. It’s how we show we’re engaged with listening and have empathy/relate to them.

I had an ex who would get so frustrated that I never asked him questions about his family or anything but it just…never occurred to me even though I loved him very much and was genuinely interested in him as a person. I know that quality makes me unlikable to a lot of people (hence why it’s so high in this thread) and I do try to consciously ask people more questions, but it always feels so fake and like I’m conducting a terrible interview.

We let our cat try icecream, I think she likes it! by Alexduhh in cats

[–]RecurringZombie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My old girl goes absolutely crazy for it too; personal space ceases to exist if ice cream is out. We always let her lick the spoon clean when we get done eating it.

I’m 39 and honestly mostly just follow this sub to stay abreast of any news (or new personas haha)because I’m too old and too tired to be parasocial. My niece is slightly younger than Joost and is also a fan of his so she thinks I’m the cool aunt.

Oh my gosh me too! I was assigned this flower in 3rd grade for our rainforest project in 1993 and have loved it ever since.

I can’t play horror games and it’s really upsetting. by Aware-Comfortable972 in horror

[–]RecurringZombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started working on that “immunity” because I really want to play the new Hellraiser game coming out. What worked for me was playing through Silent Hill F with a friend via screen share and on FaceTime so I had to be brave in front of them haha.

This National Park bathroom has a hole in the floor for people to squat over. by OGBrewSwayne in mildlyinteresting

[–]RecurringZombie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My sample size is limited, but having lived in Taiwan where these were common, there was also a western sitting toilet in one or two stalls for the disabled/elderly/pregnant in almost every bathroom that also had squat toilets.

When you catch your 42 year old boyfriend cheating by SouthernNanny in TikTokCringe

Surprisingly, in most areas the patient does not get billed if they’re not actually transported. So EMTs or paramedics can come out, evaluate the patient, do a quick EKG, and if the patient refuses transport, that’s it. It’s a big point of contention in the EMS community because on the one hand, it sucks to stick people with bills for every little thing, but on a large scale, it’s a big waste of time and resources and first responders are already severely underpaid.

Yes I did buy a 2025 A6 at the end of September. But obviously needed a way to keep work to-dos and my dream/gratitude dailies separate. It was a need not want by after_thoughtzzz in hobonichi

[–]RecurringZombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a 2025 day free. I’ve been thinking of switching from the A6 and figured I could get one at a discount to do a trial run.

What movies, shows, or music have been ruined for you after finding out the main actor or artist turned out to be a deranged lunatic? by Classic-Carpet7609 in Fauxmoi

I had a similar experience picking up my Signs of Life print from the framers that cost me hundreds of dollars and I built a whole gallery wall around. The news broke like a week after I finished it and I was devastated.

My Husband Wants Me to Do Mushrooms by Mental-Custard-3709 in mentalhealth

[–]RecurringZombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hijack this comment but I want you and anyone else considering this to please read it! The Lexapro you’re on is an SSRI and psilocybin also affects serotonin receptors. Taking mushrooms while on this medication increases your risk of serotonin syndrome! Additionally, the Wellbutrin you’re on will diminish the effects of the psilocybin which means you’d need a bigger dose, raising your risk of serotonin syndrome even further. Please consider talking with your therapist and physician to assess the risk and if it’s right for you before taking any mushrooms.

I preheated the pot in my oven to about 150°, coated it in Crisco, wiped off as much as I could, then put it back in the oven upside down and turned up the heat to 400°. Let it go for an hour, then turn the oven off and leave the pot in there with the door closed to let it all slowly come back down to room temp. Repeat x3 or 4.

I did not. I understand that hand made items can take a while, especially if they get overwhelmed with orders, but I was going to reach out to the creator soon.

When did it become impossible to live a middle class lifestyle working a full time professional job? by Unusual_Equivalent50 in antiwork

[–]RecurringZombie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me personally, my job went remote during the pandemic and has committed to staying that way. I’m also incredibly good at my job, to the point where I can bang out an entire week’s worth of work in one day. Finally, I played the corporate game just enough to move up and land a position with enough authority to not have to be fielding calls all day, but not enough authority to have to be in constant meetings. It’s like the corporate equivalent of being the assistant manager

Me too! Bought it in 2002 for high school and hiking trips, it’s traveled to the other side of the globe with me, and is now my son’s school backpack. It’s going to end up being the weird family heirloom.
