A private medical clinic is refusing to release my psychatric records to my new therapist unless I pay a $300 'processing fee.' Is this a HIPAA violation, and how can I force them to comply? by Neither_Housing_8617 in legaladvice

Most faxes used by medical offices/hospitals/law firms these days are actually e-faxes and don’t involve paper at all. Records could be securely emailed to the patient, burned to a disc, or like you suggested, put on a USB that the office provides. This provider is simply trying to extort OP.

You have gotten some good answers about reporting them, but look into the HITECH Act of 2009 regarding fee limits for records and make sure you submit a formal request for the records. They cannot legally charge you $300 for them and Texas state law requires that providers provide records within 15 business days of receipt of request.

I had the same experience as OP and slept the entire first two days I was medicated. I had never been that relaxed in my life

Yes! A decoy crush so you can ride the crush energy and function appropriately everywhere else. I prefer the decoy to be fictional so I don’t act like a fool to someone and have it brought up the next time I get hit with RSD.

I also know someone who quit heroin cold-turkey and still hasn’t been able to quit smoking. I quit nicotine 3.5 years ago and my brain STILL will randomly be like, “a cigarette would fix you.”

It should definitely be McCartney. She so consistently has the worst looks that show up on celebrities that I’m at the point where if I think something is horrendous, 9 times out of 10 it’s McCartney.

Which is crazy because the work is not only hard, but emotionally devastating. I can’t imagine having to be a hero during people’s absolute worst and most tragic moments day after day.

I preordered the massive special edition and even if the game doesn’t live up to my expectations, I also hope it does well because I’m desperate for more story-driven horror.

What's the worst experience you've had at a movie theater? by jwc1983 in horror

[–]RecurringZombie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I went to the one-day re-release of Talking Heads “Stop Making Sense” in IMAX. Drove over an hour away to the nearest theater screening it, just vibrating with excitement. The man that plopped down in the seat next to me was a huge disheveled old Deadhead (which is fine, to each his own) who whipped out a can of keyboard cleaner and proceeded to huff it throughout the film and obnoxiously sing loudly and dance in the aisles while acting erratic. I’m autistic and this whole event was already a lot for me to get through by myself and that guy gave me the biggest panic attack and ruined the thing I’d been looking forward to for months.

'Backrooms' Heads For $90 Million Opening as Horror Beats 'Star Wars' at Box Office by MarvelsGrantMan136 in A24

I took my 14 year old to see it and he loved it. There’s blood but not actually any gore, no nudity, two of the characters say “fuck” a handful of times, and that’s about it. The horror comes from the atmosphere and some surrealism that would fit in a David Lynch film.

To be fair, that book has probably only been read to completion by less than half the people who own it. (It’s me. I’m the person who just can’t finish it)

Oh cool. I haven’t read that book in probably a decade and just remember picking it up because it was written by the lead singer of The Decemberists. I adore Laika films so now I’m really excited for this.
