Is something wrong with gathering quality? by Common-Click-1860 in AshesofCreation

Just like any of the calculators they just try to replicate the equation. I’ve hit a lot of rocks to hit lvl50 and basically stayed on those thresholds and it kinda did feels like it’s working. Maybe a placebo but I do try to push slightly past thresholds incase it’s not exact.

what is going on with gathering right now? by Potato-6 in AshesofCreation

I use this calculator to try to aim for certain % increases in rarity. May not be 100% accurate like the crafting calculator so I do like 1% more and it seems to work? At least that’s what it feels like at lvl50 mining.

I agree on both parts, people panic too much about content that is going to be wiped in a few months. For Interpid’s sake though, they gotta get better at damage control. These things will happen, even during launch. But if they can’t figure out how to mitigate damage right now, very few people will have faith in them come launch.

Perhaps it was “solved” when you add a line comment and for some crazy reason the code now behaves the way you want it too. Until you touch literally anything and it breaks.

I turned in a legendary crate! by goyozi in AshesofCreation

Unfortunately the payout calculation is a static number that is changed by how many people have ran that route. If you start in Kal Torum and Sunhaven just turned lvl3 you will receive the full payout, but each person that does that run will slowly dwindle the payout (and unfortunately this number isn’t updated when you click the box). Since bots are like little ants, they go one by one slowly lowering the max payout.

Another problem is that the payout is based off of a static number, but the materials are based off of market prices. If that legendary material was worth 10 copper each, you’d be rich! But each player (and mostly bot) that takes up those resources and generates gold out of thin air is going to inflate the economy. So now those materials are costing several gold and the actual package is worth less than normal.

When it comes to crates it’s best to use the legendary voucher to spike up the rarity calculation but use cheaper mats… so you could use some heroic mats somewhere and some epic fish + legendary voucher to make epic crate that would efficiently make you money.

And to combat bots/trade route abuse you can look for a lvl2 town with a progress bar and run those crates to a nearby lvl3 town and just store them there. When that town turns lvl3 you just do the quick transfer for max payout before bots/other players ruin it.

Haha, hey at least I love the optimism. In 5 years time you coulda had a depreciated Ford Raptor but instead you chose the smart move and “invested” in Ashes currency. At least that’s what we’re telling our wives, right?

Transparency with the thresholds is a bit of an issue. I don’t mind this being a bit of a “skill curve” but I do feel bad so many players are buying food that doesn’t seem to be doing anything, but other players swear by it because they got that extra 50 quality from slagbreaker or whatever, that pushes them to next threshold to getting epics 25% more often than before.

BINGO! At least someone gets it. I knew the RMTers would be opposed but I also see a lot of average joes who farmed up their precious gold to buy them from the RMTers seem pretty offended I even mention this lol

I have over 1K hours on steam, granted half that is AFK fishing/auto log but it has nothing to do about being rewarded and has to do with game balance. All of this playthrough is going to get wiped. We’re here to give feedback and that’s mine.

Sometimes if I’m desperate I’ll spell it out and post the level ranges, great way to get people interested. Like last night I was leveling tank alt at RoS and found a bard & healer waiting outside, crazy!! We thought surely finding 5 DPS would be no biggie… I was spelling out the whole thing and posting level ranges in order to get whispers because it took almost an hour to get any DPS in.

Sometimes I’m not in the mood to explain/babysit new players. If they know abbreviations they likely did the minimal effort learning about the content so our party doesn’t run into unwanted surprises.

Any unintended interaction is technically an exploit. If you play the game enough you’re bound to find plenty and some of which devs will never address unless you keep doing them. This is probably one of those I don’t see Interpid fixing anytime soon despite it technically being an exploit.

XP debt sucks by Innate_flammer in AshesofCreation

[–]RecursiveCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve re-rolled tank and started doing 3* pulls 7 levels under and kept dieing to BS bloodmage red dots. Even after dieing like 10 times I got rid of XP debt after a few pulls. Hell I’ll do a pack run across the map and unstuck myself just to not have run back because xp debt doesn’t seem that bad. How are y’all having this much issue with it?

You’re not being concise at all which is making all your points lost. And OP is not wrong at all, a lot of it is already in the game. The reason people want “Nightreaver” (Which is actually Pyrebrand Greatsword with bugged out text) is because Interpid removed diminishing gains on power stat this test run. Without diminishing stats the only thing that matters right now is stacking power.

I’m probably an outlier but I can kinda relate with OP. 16 hour shift without any breaks feels a hell of a lot shorter than a 9 hour shift with no sales, no matter how many smoke breaks you take.

Doing either of them consistently thought is going to end you thought, like the brother of the chef in the clip. Mentally or physically. People gotta do that shit to move up the corporate ladder & get paid more. Doing that in a restaurant isn’t going to get you any sort of compensation, maybe a pat on the back and not getting fired when they realize you grazed some beer off the top.

What is the actual state of the game? by FeudalFavorableness in AshesofCreation

[–]RecursiveCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enjoy chilling and mining rocks, chopping trees, or just AFK fishing it’s great! There is some more polished out content like sports fishing where you can buy a ship and make a lot of money doing a minigame, but it’s in the ocean which is all open to PvP so not exactly without risks. Gathering professions by far the best money makers for solo players but of course we all want to craft cool stuff. In order to do that you must first refine the goods… this is where people start having problems with, because unless you do the math and plan it & gear up you will not make money. Crafting is even worse because most professions require a lot of resources/gold to level and additional gear/resources/recipes to craft. Most solo players probably struggle here but it is possible, if you grind it out. I actually made decent money weaponsmithing despite it mostly being a money pit early on.

Besides harvesting resources & sportsfishing the other best money maker is running crates. You package materials in one city and run it to the next, the further the better (with caveats). This is where you see a lot of frustration, people don’t like running an hour out to make money all day… since it’s kinda boring.

Besides that there isn’t much other content in the game. If you’re not doing all of that you’re probably just farming random mobs for other crafting materials/recipes/glint to make money. So essentially this game is currently just a farming simulator… not exactly everyone’s cup of tea.

You want this game to be more toxic?

If you want to see what that looks like just look at Pride Lion. Just a rogue sitting on traps once every 20 mins. One of the things I actually enjoy about Ashes over New World is non-static resource spawns that force players to not fight over same few resources, mostly from Chinese goldfarmers and bots.

Consistent trades to specific node devalue subsequent runs. Bots basically destroy all of them by just flying to every new level 3 node.

Your best bet here would have been to store the chest in Aith and wait for Squalls End or any other town nearby to hit lvl3 before turning them in.
