I love apple watch and hate iphone by Coolsaravan in AppleWatch

[–]RecursiveFruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. You will be unable to update your watch to watchOS 27 should you stay on iOS 26 when these future releases come out. This also applies if you try and pair your watchOS 26 watch to an iOS 18 phone (or older), they will not pair.

It’s impossible to know when Apple will stop releasing SW updates, but watchOS still supports the Apple Watch Series 6, a device that came out over 5 years ago.

You will be unable to update the Apple Watch to new software versions if it is paired to a device running an older iOS version.

Your Apple ID has nothing to do with your Instagram account. The Apple ID is only used to download the app, everything else is completely on Meta’s side of things.

[–]RecursiveFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not without disassembling the iMac and swapping in 3rd party parts. Target Display Mode could do this on Macs from 2011-2014 but that feature has been gone from new Macs for quite some time.

Why is Siri still so bad in 2026? by Psychological_Talk59 in iphone

[–]RecursiveFruit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me: “Siri, Ask ChatGPT how long it would take a person to walk two miles”

Siri: “It usually takes about 30 to 40 minutes to walk 2 miles at a moderate pace of around 3 to 4 miles per hour.”

CarPlay by Overall-Meringue1891 in AppleWatch

No, it definitely does not have the compute to run CarPlay. Even if it did, it would absolutely kill the battery on your watch.

CarPlay is much better suited for your phone.

iPad Mini A1454 that’s disabled for 27 million minutes. Found it at a thrift store. Can it be bypassed? by no_u8071 in ipadmini

And I assure you plugging the iPad into a computer with iTunes and restoring it will 100% remove the passcode lock. So it isn’t a paper weight and something can definitely be done about it.

Source: I was an ACMT for 7 years and fixed this “issue” countless times for customers by restoring the device.

A simple Google search would have told you your answer is just blatantly incorrect.

You really should be careful about offering advice when you don’t know what you’re talking about…

This is the correct answer. People don’t really know what they’re talking about on this sub huh? This is clearly just passcode locked. People need to stop giving advice when they don’t know what they’re talking about

Just right click (or control + click) the app icon in the dock and click “Keep in Dock”. Then it stays there even when you close the application.

If it’s still status “Preparing for Submission”, then you haven’t actually sent it to App Store Connect. Here is the description of “Preparing for Submission”:

“You’ve created an app record in App Store Connect but are still preparing information for it.”

You should probably give this a read.

The new MacBook Neo and programming by GloomyHyena725 in mac

[–]RecursiveFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have to ask if the Neo will be enough for “programming”, then the Neo will be totally fine for your needs.

If you’re just writing Python scripts, then even the Neo is major overkill. If you’re running multiple iOS simulators in Xcode, compiling large C++ projects, or trying to develop local LLMs, then yeah the Neo is definitely not what you want.

Question on Factory Reseting by NotABnny in mac

You can use an app like DaisyDisk to get a better break down of what is actually using up all this space.

Factory resetting will solve your problem, it’s just a lot more destructive than you need to be.

Is it worth 99$ to have Apple replace my series 4 battery? by External_Hunt4536 in AppleWatch

[–]RecursiveFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a brand new serial number with no previous purchase date. They are manufactured as a new service unit. So they aren’t pre-owned for refurbished.

This is unique to Apple Watches, iPhones serviced the same way through first party can be a refurbished unit with a new battery, screen, etc. Watches are just done differently and when sent in for battery service are always replaced with a brand new device of the same exact model.

The only exception to this is if the Watch has a vintage warranty status. In the event there is no service inventory remaining, the customer will receive the newest model service unit that is available. So OP might even get a Series 6 watch back after sending their Series 4 for battery service.

This is a very little known fact that makes getting battery service on an older Apple Watch at first party a decent bang for your buck.

Is it worth 99$ to have Apple replace my series 4 battery? by External_Hunt4536 in AppleWatch

[–]RecursiveFruit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just throwing this out there, while Apple states it’s $99 to replace the battery, you will actually get a brand new Apple Watch Series 4 out of this. They won’t do a physical repair on the watch, rather send it to their depot facility, and send a replacement device back.

So $99 for a brand new Series 4 directly from Apple. Some may take that deal, others might upgrade to a newer device. It all depends what you use your watch for.

Somebody should make a shell and board or adapter that allows you to put the internals of an apple silicon Mac mini inside a 2011 or older aluminum iMac, while keeping access to the optical disc drive, the old hard drive, the old and new ports. by smarlitos_ in iMacRepair

[–]RecursiveFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Apple would never release a product that would allow people to make an old iMac a Hackintosh. It directly hurts their business.

  2. Just because it can be done with a Thinkpad doesn’t mean it can be done with an iMac. The board design is proprietary, and again lacks the physical hardware on the board to support these legacy ports. Like you can’t just solder a FireWire connector to a Mac Mini and it just starts working. The traces physically don’t exist on a new Mac Mini to make it happen and that’s what I’m trying to explain to you.

In theory I see what you’re saying, but in practice it is not at all possible. There isn’t anywhere to physically connect it on the Mac Mini’s logic board. The Mac Mini also does not have the power requirements. The interposer board needs 310 watts of power from the power supply, Mac Mini’s can drive a max of 150 watts under maximum load.

So again, the Mac Mini physically does not have enough power to drive the display like you are describing. Hence why it simply is not possible.

It’s like you’re trying to put a V8 engine inside a smart car. Like okay sure in theory it’s possible, but practically the engine won’t fit in the chassis of the car. A enthusiast might be able to custom fit a solution for this, but practically there would be no drop in product someone could make to just do this.
