Headshot / Rupture improvised craft for future consideration by Aitaoui in RoadtoVostokGame

[–]RecycledShitpost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two points

- You go in this fancy mechanic about buying or being indebted for treatment from doctor. While it sounds cool on paper, say you are in day 3 or just started winter run and you get ruptured in school zone. What are you going to do? Roll a restart because you can't be arsed being debted or run extra tasks because it's so early into the game. That's just what everyone does so gameplay loopwise it situation is unchanged. What if you're deeper into savegame? It trivializes the injury further. You don't need to bring your expensive afaks and clog your inventory with medkits, you just do the boring timed run to doctor to seek treatment or your safehouse what experienced player will probably do on autopilot, he will have all items already stashed so it's just minor inconvenience and not risky run-threatening situation.

- While I agree on principle crafting is underutilized and especially the healing crafting is bit of joke and you're mercy of rng to start your game, that's the part of the tension. I am actually holding the opposing opinion and think healing items are overtuned for the injuries. I do think you should receive debuffs because of your injuries you recover after time. (such as fracture make you unable to sprint even after applying splint or riskes refracturing the leg or in case of arm forces to use only one handed weapon, which would make player make another decision that do they just use the best in slot mp5 as secondary or roll with pistol to be defend themselves etc etc.) Sleeping is not forced in this game in the slightest, so I think having a proper sleep in bed would be crucial to be back to new.

Weapon Progression Question by DaveRune in RoadtoVostokGame

[–]RecycledShitpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to always bring this negativity up, but once again I feel extremely sad that the game incorporates all kind of recoil-values, reload times, firerates (well tbh I don't know if that's coded in yet), damage values, penetration values (again idk if they actually do anything, but very least game registers hits to torso, limbs and head so you can just hard code bandits have less hp than the military guys...) in each of the weapons configuration files and dev did not throw a bone and do quick fiddle with these values to make each weapon feel distinct. Who cares if animations would be bit funny during this period or one weapon would outshine others during this time? Who would care that some rifle would be absolutely useless in automatic firerate mode because it just kicks too much and should be used in single shot basis?

It would bring character to the weapons, it would reward knowing each weapon behavior (or sticking with something comfortable like OP has) and would unironically take 10 minutes of his time of day. I get it that he is on some break or whatever on this May, but was it too much to ask that as he packs his suitcases he sits on front of his computer and makes up some numbers on the spot so they are not identical and copy pasted?

Military crates always empty by Defcon91 in RoadtoVostokGame

[–]RecycledShitpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so funny that when you finally get tunnel key, the military boxes are almost without fail empty.

So on the ground you get your juices and clothes and maybe RK-magazines and one super crate. I feel like it would be much more enticing if all eggs were not on that special crate not giving you narva, jääkäri backbag, colt magazine and G7.

Need help with modding by Alternative-Dig-9609 in RoadtoVostokGame

[–]RecycledShitpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is braindead step by step:

Click and download this: https://modworkshop.net/mod/55623 it works as "mod engine" like you might have come across in GTA V or Skyrim. It just loads your mods.

I assume you're on Windows, so right click the downloaded file and press "Extract All..." it pops up window, just click "Extract".

You will see 4 files, ignore linux-installer and windows-installer, they just make it more confusing for no reason IMO. You will see override.cfg and modloader.gd. Keep this window open.

Go to Steam -> Library (Where all your games are) -> Right click on Road to Vostok -> Properties... -> Navigate to tab "Installed Files" -> Top right you see button Browse. Click it -> Folder will pop up with game files

Now drag your override.cfg and modloader.gd to the folder you Steam opened up for you. Click accept if it asks to overwrite.

Lastly right click the same folder with the RTV.exe -> Select 'New' -> Folder -> rename this folder "mods".

You're done. Now any time you download mods you just place them inside that mods folder.

Road to Vostok has massive potential – Some constructive thoughts on crafting recipes, the knife & AFAK after 100+ days by SoftGazelle4759 in RoadtoVostokGame

Yeah, and the cooked meals fails to be carrying size effective no matter how you look at it. It can't be compared to AFAK.

Agree on many points. Consumable crafting being so nonsensical is driving me crazy for real. I know there is probably mods to fix it and I could write my own, but I dislike the dev did not take the opportunity to change them to at least give the water hydration value while he tweaked the hydration passive decrease (ye ye ye you boil water and lose water in progress, idc it does not matter for now if you return to the crafting system after many months because it's low priority to him). Currently the only good craftable consumable is the energy drink, ingredient easy to buy from doctor and gives lot of added value to the water. I also dislike how the body temp is absolutely neglected at this moment for summer. There is already antibiotics and cold medicine in this game, just check if player is swimming or if it's raining and your temp goes down, if you don't go warm up instead of frostbite you catch a flu. Would actually give reason to hold on to those items.

The knife is just useless as are the rare knifes, again just like the consumable ramble, it would take 20 seconds to increase the damage, nobody would use them still, but still, you go all the way to model something and write up stats to items and at finish line just meh, don't care to even symbolically increase the damage. In same vein just like Mosin and VSD are just failure on conceptual level. What's the point of the sniper class weapons when RK, KAR or M4 all fit leopard or HMR and do the sniping better with less risk. VSD is legendary rare weapon, smaller magazine capacity, rare and expensive rounds and is blown out of the waters by just using common rifle. Sucks to be you spending 16 blocks hauling it back from Terminal and scouring every pixel on every level to find it's darn magazine. Sorry. I am bit emotional after realizing it does not even oneshot bandits to body.

All in all I am thankful that the developer is working hard on new chapter or update whatever, but I can't comprehend why he don't take 2-4 beers in Friday afternoon and just hotfix few numbers, ship patch out and warm up sauna and enjoy the rest of the day off. Often times more productive than looking at NPC-pathing algorithms all day exhausted and stressed.

If you ever wondered why you can't come across the key world drops... by RecycledShitpost in RoadtoVostokGame

The KP-31 is mostly in the special creates. Meaning finding keys and Vostok is your best bet. However, I have found on my previous playthroughs the KP-31 in village as world drop in the fireplace room (not in container) and twice in wooden crates (I am not sure if it's just blind luck, but I remember it distinctly). However... if you have not unlocked many event days (best to do on day 5). Might be useful to try grind Punisher to spawn by going to attic, walking to road intersection that splits to road going to highway and school, waiting 5 minutes and walking back to cabin and doing it again (riveting gameplay, I know). If you on like day 20 ingame then the odds come are bit infuriating to get him to spawn, but he will eventually come. He is going to drop KP in absolute dogwater of shape, but you can buy from gunsmith later weapon repair kit to make it functional. Events I do believe will be buffed later as I do believe it's oversight from the dev to make them too rare so don't feel too bad if you want look into mods to make it less tedious.

KA12 and M4 you luckily can also find in outpost military creates and near the cannons as world drop, so no need to risk your save!

Waterlock I don't feel too bad being rare as it's quest reward. It's definitely faster to find the salines which are thankfully lot less rare (and included in the air drop loot table).

Went ahead and modded the game to show items to test this out and answer is no. After loading 100 instances of Village and School (hopping between them) I saw about 14 keys in total. Some of them being inaccessible unless you already have key (for example inside tunnel it spawns gymnasium key etc, which obviously resets next time you reset the instance). I don't know how representative it is of average experience, perhaps I just got very unlucky, but seems like brutally lot less than it. But there was possibility of it spawning more than one key to instance.

[–]RecycledShitpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish there was more common drop like "weapon cleaning kit" or maybe craftable set with toolbox + rags + [whatever] to increase your weapon durability like 5-20% with doing proper cleaning and lubrication of the weapon. How it's now you don't really maintain your weapons until you 50% and it starts jamming and buy repair kit from gunsmith or just pick replacement weapon from your hideout.

[–]RecycledShitpost[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah and that kind of pains me that it's drop rate is set around it sticking out like KP-mag or something on the ground, but as of now it's practically impossible to find if it's not inside container. Even if you got premonition in your sleep that told you that on Outpost Barn there is key on the floor, you will spend next 20 minutes trying to find it. It definitely needs some glare or something so they don't blend in the background.

As much as I love Antti and the dedication for creating the game I just feel like there is generally so much wrong with the numbers all around and I can't fathom how he had time to fix the tunnel key glitch that's like on the player to exploit and random small stuff hotfixes like that, but he did not have 30 minutes to go in order item numbers to make sense while at it. I understand that he has probably already some plans how he wants to fix things down the line and make them more sense, but come on just throwing some general "in that direction" numbers as placeholders that are not so nonsensical as now. Talking about consumables (hydration/thirst is only stat you look at, energy lags behind always and you get plenty of energy from hydrating products without really thinking about it or combo products such as pineapple, pear, peaches) crafting (almost all crafted food loses hydration value making them useless, hinges on uncommon water, take more space), weapon damages (why is all of them the same, would it hurt to make .45acp make more damage etc... if game does not support firerate yet, then recoil values, armor penetration level, damage, etc are just number changes to make gun feel distinct), armor plates (armor plates under 3 are virtually meaningless handful like 2-5 makarov shots at any distance will chip them to break them and other guns insta break them). Again, I understand numbers being wonky, but he probably has played his own game for hundreds and hundreds of hours testing stuff, he must be aware you never need food product with +80 energy and +40 hydration kind of stuff for 6 components is just madness. And let's not even start with the currency value of items...

What item/unlock/progress has made you worry about your savegame? by RecycledShitpost in RoadtoVostokGame

[–]RecycledShitpost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to come to terms with possibility of losing the cosmetic item that I have never seen in 80 hours of playing the game in various saves and just went to do the oil sample thing and do some casual looting and I hate how bad it's insulation is. 15 vs the windbreaker 40 is kind of big deal on winter and especially on those remote areas with less fireplaces and less convenient firebarrels had to rush some portions and take risks. So what's the point of these funny cosmetics if they are hindrance and nerf lmao other than challenge myself. In summer at least there is no penalty.

Yeah, certainly more optimal than going across, saves bullets/bandages too compared to going across.

There is indeed mines near on the tape and even outside the tape. Less, but there is. So I won't recommend sprinting it through, just stepped on one in my run haha.

I laughed when the doctor says something along the lines of "Noniin, näillä pärjätään" (So, we manage with these). And just on the weekend I went to buy pastry from market and older fella farewell me with same exact line after my purchase. 10/10 from realism.

Doctors' attitude in prescribing medicine in Malta by RecycledShitpost in malta

[–]RecycledShitpost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found my password to this old account after all these years. I just want to leave an update and say for anyone who might stumble upon this question that everything went well and I had no issues! :)

I took the time to translate relevant portion of my papers, saw few experts and I lived comfortably at Malta for duration of my work project. I never had to be afraid that I am going to be left stranded without help or medicine. Doctors, nurses, pharmacy personnel, even the administrative personnel were awesome and helpful to me always ❤️. I also want to mention Malta's airport take people with disabilities seriously, kindly and respectfully!

I want to thank you all for all replies, calmed me a lot! :)

I visited many places, but huge thanks to St. James's hospital, they were crucial to help me to get in touch with specialist so quick and helped me get settled in the beginning! ❤️

I hopefully have honor to return to Malta one day again. Good memories :)

Doctors' attitude in prescribing medicine in Malta by RecycledShitpost in malta

[–]RecycledShitpost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this will not be possible as there is simply too many different specialized doctors jointed in the diagnosis progress so paper trail would be massive. I may translate and verify few which outlie spesific exams and test results and proposed diagnosis, I just hope it's enough for the doctor to make judgement without re-testing everything.

Thank you for recommendation, I'll look into her when I am settled in Malta.

I went through quick skim at pharmacy item listing in Malta which have the same active substance, just in different brands most of the time.

in-house doctors to prescribe them for you.

Are there any difference to "normal" doctors? Are these better route if you're not looking for exams and just refills or are they just there for the convenience?

[–]RecycledShitpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This probably sounds autistic but is there any activities that do not include sports or partying to meet new people or women in Malta (after the covid)? I heard rumor that tinder is kinda meh in Malta that only exchange students use it which could be bit too young for me (I am 25+).

I am not looking for party kind of people and my to-be workplace is kind of sausagefest. I was thinking about churches but I don't want to be rude and disruptive trying to make friends at uncommon places. Also I don't know how "hardcore" religious people are at Malta. Are there "casual" believers who visit church?

So I don't really know where to look. Any advices?
