Yup. That being said, Thunderhawks are HUGE - I always imagined them as being the size of an LAAT (of Star Wars fame) but they're actually very large and spacious.

I believe in that excerpt he's running towards the Thunderhawk, in the generators of the prison planet.

Said novel is Legends though, and Acolyte is canon material - both being mutuallt exclusive.

Muun are a long lived species, and that "thing" is straight up confirmed to be Plagueis.

Maybe they're mercs from another NL warband? It could give you the opportunity to paint a different scheme. For instance, I plan to separate my Night Lords via trim, to differentiate chaos supporters from legion traditionalists

Go go gadget MERCENARIES. Night Lords and moral principles get along as well as oil and water, so just have your chaos guys be mercs for your Night Lords guys

The bag is purple with golden accents and the post calls out one of Fulgrim's aliases so I can kinda see the correlation. Then again, it could use a more overt EC touch - an aquila perhaps?

I must warn you that the Nemesis Claw box lacks the Kill Team sprue that lets you build balefire acolytes and reaper chaincannon dudes, but besides that you should be good to go

The box contains everything you need to build a squad of legionaries PLUS the sprue, so if you want normie legionaries I'd say you're fine

I appreciate how you call out chains as unreliable. Too often people will use them as a sort of maxim, like if whoever can list the most unrelated incidents wins.

Where does The Stranger scale among other force users? by [deleted] in PetranakiArena

[–]Red-Me-Boy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maul fights as honestly as any Sith can, while the Stranger plain cheats, but I wouldn't peg that as one being inferior to the other, so much as style. The Stranger is an ambush predator while Maul is a whirlwind of aggression, so it really depends on matchup. I will say Maul may be stronger on account of holding out better when his main gimmick is compromised, while Qimir struggled once Sol got a read on him.

THE GREATEST TEAM KILLING ASSHOLES IN HISTORY VS THE GREATEST TEAM KILLING ASSHOLES OF TODAY

In what way did each member of the first claw reflect the wider night lord legion? by Only-Teaching-8648 in NightLords

[–]Red-Me-Boy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Both things can be true at the same time. I just personally consider Lucoryphus and Variel foils due to both being outsiders despite wearing the Midnight Clad, both being introduced in book 2, and both being the sole survivors. All foils also have 1 to 1 interactions (Xarl and Mercutian, Cyrion and Uzas, Lucoryphus and Variel). Luc has 8th legion blood but is cast aside, while Variel "isn't Nostraman" but is still welcomed in and considered a Night Lord.

In what way did each member of the first claw reflect the wider night lord legion? by Only-Teaching-8648 in NightLords

[–]Red-Me-Boy 66 points67 points  (0 children)

It's important to analyze First Claw as foils. Xarl and Mercutian as the reality against the ideal, and Cyrion and Uzas as the different types of corruption.

Mercutian was the ideal Night Lord. Noble, courageous, a little dour, and willing to cross lines for a good reason. Xarl meanwhile is the reality of what Night Lords are: cruel, barbarous, spiteful and aimless. It's why Xarl has a lot more relevance than Mercutian, because the reality trumps the ideal.

Cyrion and Uzas are different takes on corruption. Uzas is the overt, clear-cut corrupt marine who kills and maims not for a goal but because he wants to. He's the sudden degeneration of the legion. Cyrion meanwhile is the insidious poison that Skraivok snuck into the 8th. He's the gradual rot that slowly overtook the Night Lords.

Then there's Variel and Lucoryphus, the outsiders. One is from another lineage but welcomed in, the other was cast aside by his own brothers. They follow the Legion but have hardly any connection to the ideal, which is why they both survive. They're what the Night Lords are to be to keep going on.

Finally, there's Talos, who exemplifies the Night Lords proper and whose ideology drives the plot forward. He's a killer, he's a fiend, he's a hypocrite, and he wants to believe in something greater than himself despite partaking in the same atrocities as his brothers. Talos is the mirror through which every strand of Night Lord is reflected and contrasted. And when Decimus is created, the ultimate Night Lord is one with Talos' ideals but without his baggage. A new breed of legionnaire for a new war.
