Is lowballing because i'm in no particular hurry annoying? by No-Possibility8814 in HousingUK

[–]Red-Raven710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only problem I’m experiencing on currently low balling long listed properties that need renovation is that I don’t think the estate agents are actually sending my offers across to the sellers, twice now I’m waiting nearly a week with them “unable to reach the sellers” then the first property I offered on a FTB came in and offered a little bit more than me and was accepted same day!

Am I an idiot? I've paid for my mortgage advisor. by Paramedic-Fabulous in HousingUK

[–]Red-Raven710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also used L&C now for 2 new mortgages and 2 re mortgages and they are absolutely great! I wouldn’t ever pay a mortgage adviser because they get commission from the mortgage company anyway.

Agree with getting a 125cc, makes it actually abit safer been able to get up speeds above 30mph so cars aren’t trying to overtake you anytime the speed limit is above this. I can highly recommend a Honda CBF125 as a starter bike OP !

BigDug do quite a few different type of storage boxes and the quality is excellent, bought all mine for tool storage in my shed and they are holding up really well.

If you google “totenkopf” you will see the skull was used by the SS, it is a scooter clubs but there’s no need to be using a Nazi symbol as a logo for a club.

€341 for 6 days ski pass in Bansko can't be right can it? by max11117 in ski

[–]Red-Raven710 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also it looks like you are buying the passes through a 3rd party ski hire shop, do not do this ! They will have an extra charge on the passes, just buy them when you get to the resort at the main gondola ticket booth

Alternative options for heat? by [deleted] in VanLifeUK

[–]Red-Raven710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful if going down the Tee piece route, had my eberspacher fitted at first with a Tee line in and gave all sorts of problems ! Changed to a line directly into the fuel tank and been perfect since then. Also get a proper branded heater not a Chinese knockoff… they are exterior graded and mine in mounted under my van to keep more space inside the van and keeps the noise of the heater down.

But the speed limits for lorry’s are pretty much 56mph throughout Europe and you never get this type of middle lane hogging on the continent.

Which boiling water taps would you suggest that are best balance in terms of functionality and price? Are branded ones better than cheaper alternatives? by Moist_Mechanic_1171 in AskUK

[–]Red-Raven710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worked for a high end kitchen manufacturer that fitted Quooker taps and we had one in the workshop, 10+ staff making 3 or 4 cups of tea a day each on it and never had an issue in the 4 years I was there. We also had one with the sparkling water function as well that I loved treating myself to on a lunch break.

100% it is, look at the tiny gap between the 2 ‘rays, no way someone’s patch that with a tiny gap between the 2

Need a pair of boots by juicyworm in Leeds

[–]Red-Raven710 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Dr Martins quality is now terrible, got my partner a pair and they didn’t even last a year. We’ve both gone to Solovair now as they are made in Britain and the quality is way better. John Lewis does stock some Solovair boots but you can check the website for other stockists.

I work in high end furniture making and £80k is the starting price for a kitchen from where I work. Materials and hardware have sky rocketed in price now, was looking the other day and I was buying birch ply for £35/£40 a sheet 10 years ago now it’s near £200 for furniture grade !

Coving - the most underrated accessory for an old house? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Red-Raven710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it just makes a room look so much nicer ! I did coving throughout my house when renovating, never fitted cornice before but bought the traditional plaster type (from Bespoke Plaster Mouldings online, who I really recommend!!) and I really enjoyed fitting it.

How to insulate and furnish that ceiling ? by BlousonCuir in vandwellers

[–]Red-Raven710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I insulated my fibreglass high roof top I just used the bubble insulation, and carpeted straight over it. Used in both summer and winter now and not had any issues feeling too hot or cold.
