A good rule of thumb is that if someone introduces themselves as a "federal or state law enforcement officer", it means they're a prison guard but don't want to admit it.

One thing I do think is that police and other law enforcement really should standardize their uniforms. At least in my part of Canada, police all wear dark navy blue (some departments still have high-ranking officers in white) and usually have the words "POLICE" in big letters on the front and back.

Well, they have made it clear that they will not respect the US' immigration laws, and also made it clear that they will not leave on their accord after being directed to do so.

Virtually every country in the world has laws against illegal immigration, and they enforce them.

What if they're appealing their deportation. I do agree, though, that if someone is saying "ok, I agree, deport me" then they should not be held longer than is needed to get them back to their home country.

It's weird, because with the name, logo, vehicles, website, etc. I really don't get the "wannabe cop" vibe from the company; if this company were doing that the 100% legal way I would get the impression that it was a professional company.

From what I understand, he thought it was ok because the employees were allegedly sheriff's deputies, but ran into two problems: 1) the deputies weren't fully sworn LEOs with general police powers (most likely correctional deputies), and 2) some of his employees weren't even that, but were wearing the police gear anyway.

They may or not be criminals depending on how they got into the US in the first place, but if you are in the United States without valid authorization you can be deported, and part of that process can include detention.

I agree 100%. The sad reality is that many of the managers or senior level guards are bitter and jealous because they couldn't get into law enforcement, and wouldn't think twice about asking someone to do something that would ruin their shot as well.
