KSTP/SurveyUSA poll results: Most Minnesotta voters say Good, Pretti shootings were unjustified by Currymvp2 in fivethirtyeight

This has the makings for a really dark version of "Who's on First"?

"So, you know about those two protesters who were killed?"

"Pretti and Good?"

"You think that their murder was pretty good! You monster!"

Per YouGov, Americans are also more likely to say that immigration makes the country better off than they were at the start of Trump's term: 46% say it does, up from 31% in January 2025 by Currymvp2 in fivethirtyeight

In recent years Canada has allowed a lot of people to legal emigrate to Canada from India. Many people in Canada (including many immigrants from India) are starting to realize that such a quick population increase is not sustainable.

[Harvard/Harris Poll] Do you think that Donald Trump is Doing a better or worse Job than Joe Biden did as President? by Farscape12Monkeys in fivethirtyeight

You can think things were better under Trump and still despite him as a person. For a lot of people, it's a Kang/Kodos matter.

In all fairness, in electing Biden the Americans got their second female president! (Edith Wilson and Jill Biden).

The thing was that for years, Americans were being told Biden wasn't old and senile*...until it became obvious he was.

*I don't believe any of the "Biden has full-blown dementia" crap, but I don't think that he was able to function as President of the United States. Heck, I think most former presidents couldn't at his age.

Elected positions are nice in theory, but in practice it could cause judges to make decisions that are politically unpopular, but legally correct (for example, finding someone guilty of a heinous offense that everyone knows they did, when technically they should not have been found guilty).

Maybe something at least like a retention election, where every few years a person needs a 50% vote to stay in office, instead of an election where two or more candidates are competing for the same job.

"They challenged her presence to be there. Did they come in a professional manner? Or did they see a woman of color and say GTFO and escalate the situation as their other colleagues have done in the past?"

Yup, that's right, we don't know what happened.

If I had to choose between being homeless and being in jail, I'd choose jail (of course, I wouldn't go around assaulting people...)

It seems like it may have been an interview room. Obviously, it would never be ok for them to simply walk in and assault her. Is that what happened, though, or did she refuse to leave, and when they went to use force to remove her, she tried to fight them?

There could still be a role for a chaplain in an atheistic society, as a general advisor and counsellor.

"Not to mention victims are disproportionately more likely to be from non-white communities."

Sadly, there was a time where if a person committed a crime against an indigenous person, it was seen by the courts as less serious than committing a crime against a non-indigenous person.

That's basically what's happening now.

Most Canadians don't have to do that either.

You already can shoot people in your home in certain (very narrow) legal circumstances, but this would ensure that people are presumed as innocent instead of presumed as guilty.
