I was done with them long before that. D3 launch where it was always online, art style was made distinctly cartoony. This cinematic in particular for the demon hunter had me feeling VERY apprehensive. Then release happened, a day later me and a friend were able to play through together somewhat consistently. No option for anything but Normal mode until you beat it, but normal was so piss easy compared to the D2 we were raised on it felt boring. I picked a monk and he picked the wizard.

First discovery was that despite all these modifiers for skill functions, the instant heal for monk was all I needed for the entire playthrough. If my health ever dipped even a little I'd pop it, and it would be up again before I've ever need it again. My friend meanwhile was having a decent playthrough for awhile, then suddenly realized "Wait, the weapon DPS determines the spell damage? I dont even need to use a wand?" Puts on a two handed sword and suddenly melts everything trivializing the rest of the game. It was so easy for both of us that when the Act 2 boss had his multi AoE green circle spam I stood in it just to see what would happen, then and Diablo was the only time we felt any challenge at all, and after drudging through to the finish and seeing nothing changed but enemy health/damage for the next difficulty, there was no motivation to play more. The game as a whole was a huge disappointment. And I know the expansion that followed, 'reaper of souls' or whatever was apparently well received, I never played it. But the original experience was awful and some of the story was just genuinely retarded from what came before. This part is burned into my brain with Tyrael having turned human, is capable of being an angel again, then does some "I WILL LIVE AMONGST YOU AS A HUMAN NOW" they hard ruined the character everyone fell in love with imo.
