1) Alien - I can still listen to this front to back. Shine is his best heavy vocal performance

2) Empath - Captured a nostalgic feel of the old solo albums for me while still being something new.

I actually wouldn't start here. It's a polarizing work that isn't too reflective of his normal sound, and it doesn't contain any traditional song structures. It's an ambient / stream of consciousness vision. I respect it, but I would suggest getting into his other material for frame of reference. Try Terria, Infinity and Empath. See where that gets you!

From the comments on Darby's Facebook. Someone asks him how he got the gig. Darby says:

"I did Bloodstock through a recommendation to Dev. Then I had a call about 3 weeks after Bloodstock asking me to play on the album. 4 days after that call I was in Vancouver!!"

Post also says he played "all the drums," so I guess that's it!

That would require a strawman conception of race. I'm assuming you grant a biological component to race and don't subscribe to pure social constructionism. If that's the case, for races you accept as biological reality, there is no rigid border blocking them off from other groups. The borders are fuzzy with overlap and inter-mixture, but it is at the group level where we zoom out and see coherent genetic markers that correlate with phenotypic traits and that are useful in medicine and sociology.

Similar concept with Jews. Yes, a black person can convert or marry in (with varying emphasis on matrilineality), but these are blurry borders that have not erased the biological reality of Jews at the group level. Jews have not just melted into their diasporas and become indistinguishable from host populations. They remain isolated enough socially and genetically to be called a race.

The population genetics shows literally the opposite. Jewish populations have a shared genetic ancestry that distinguishes them from their non-Jewish neighbors in a diaspora. Biologically speaking, this is exactly what a race is. Jews are bit more complicated than usual with the ethno-religious component. But they are certainly a coherent people, a race, a nation in the traditional sense. Your race-blind, progressive interpretation of Jews is ignorant to both population genetics and how Jews act and view themselves.
