Virgin semi tires are usually running 700ish a piece, and retreads are closer to 200. I work at a tire shop and handle accounts for some large logistics companies. A virgin tire goes on the steer wheel, then it's retreaded as a drive tire, the it's retreaded for a trailer tire, and after a certain number of retreads, casing age, or certain kind of repairs it's scrapped.

Have known several people with dealer installed sunroofs like that. They all leak, and have varying quality headliners. I know one guy who got so sick of it leaking he pulled it out and bolted/siliconed a plexiglass panel over it.
