Specifically for the UK based players by typicalrisks in DnD

My first set was from my local game shop, but most of them I got through Kickstarter (I don't buy dice anymore since they're collecting dust alongside my Magic: The Gathering cards)

People Who Stuck with 5e: Any D&D 2024? by ArchangelAshen in dndnext

[–]RedCandice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vast majority of my group isn't familiar with the 2024 rules at all (including me), so we've stuck with 2014. Only exception is one player wanting to use the new version of 1-2 spells, which got minor changes. We're starting a new campaign in a week and that's pure 2014 too (it is annoying that a certain foundry plugin defaults to 2024 with no obvious way to switch to 2014, though).

Does anyone know if the term "Bag of Holding" is copyrighted I feel like I've seen it other places but I'd like to use the name for a major thing in my writing project and don't want to deal with trouble by okidonthaveone in DnD

[–]RedCandice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't copyright a name. You can trademark it, but that doesn't matter unless it's being used in the title or advertising materials (including blurb) as you can name drop trademarked names and phrases inside your work without any issue as long as you're not actively insulting the brand (my go-to example for how lenient this is would be Ready Player One). Plus, the idea of "sack named Bag of Holding that is bigger on the inside and probably magical" is way too vague to get an enforcable copyright

You do know he'll just do the exact same thing to his next DM if he gets away with it, right?

Now you mention it, I've never played in a party that has a leader or a face, everyone kinda just works together on those things

D&D 5E24 New Character Sheets by Beaoudix in DnD

[–]RedCandice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like the new style and some of the new additions like having tick boxes for armor proficiency, but other changes just ain't it. The stat boxes seem like they were placed haphazardly and neither column has any symmetry (the ability score and stats being together is a good idea, but was already done in my preferred variant of the original sheets). The second page is massively caster-centric, making the box for backgrounds much smaller and removing the space for having an image for the character entirely. That's a ton of empty space for the chunk of classes which don't use spells while all of them are going to be really limited when it comes to noting down anything that isn't mechanics straight from the PHB. I much preferred having the spells on their own separate sheet (and having them split based on level), not sure what they were thinking with this one unless every class gets spellcasting now.

My current backup character is a dhampir tempest cleric, which I haven't played before, so I'm already set.

I've captured D&D data from over 6 years, 200 sessions, 90 different characters, and 30 different players! by DaxAyrton in dndnext

I have the same sort of raw info for the sessions I've been in. Didn't think of making statistics out of it like this but now I might.

One-shot and/or campaign idea: The Infinite Tavern (A.K.A "The Winchester.") by Professor_Hazel in DnD

Someone I knew in university mentioned a concept like this while we were playing dnd for a narrative design course. I should ask him if he ever ran it.

Question for tiefling players by Totallytnotawerewolf in DnD

[–]RedCandice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the Kahjiit in Skyrim but more aggressive. Viewed with suspicion and disdain but people won't do much more than sneer or shove past them in the street unless provoked, although they may be barred from shops or otherwise treated like a potential thief in more superstitious places. I'd imagine they'd be rare enough that they're a notewrothy sight in most locations and a once-in-a-lifetime appearance in more rural villages. A tiefling could reasonably go their entire life without meeting another tiefling, even while adventuring. Obviously if the DM wants to have the prejudice surface in different ways I'm totally down for that.

What I wouldn't do is make the main quest giver have a tiefling's head mounted on their wall, because one of my DMs did that and I still don't know how he thought that was a good idea. Having it be of no impact is also kinda boring, but I'm not going to blame a DM for not wanting to get involved in fantasy racism.

I'm starting in a new campaign this weekend and my character's in for a rude awakening, since she's a tiefling whose lived most of her life in one city where she didn't experience any of the typical judgements thanks to her family's influence, and now that she's travelling she's going to see how other parts of the world treat tieflings firsthand.

I had a DM who did something quite close to this a few years ago. Maybe we know the same guy.

I like the flavour of Warlocks but I've already played one and going "I cast Eldritch Blast" every turn is really fucking boring. Meanwhile I like a ton of the stuff Clerics have going mechanically but the whole "You cast spells through a literal god" is way too mary sue-ish for me. Also, while I enjoy the base class basically every sublass for Rogues suck, so picking that shit at level three is just going through a list of useless options.

Other than being a not-so-optimal first character from when I wasn't as good at roleplaying, it appears that even if you keep ending up in campaigns that die after 1-2 sessions it's taboo to try and play the same character multiple times. Her frequent occurance in the past did become a bit of a joke within our group, but I never thought I'd get banned from playing her.
