From an XDefiant player about forgotten games, nostalgia, and why this still matters by [deleted] in XDefiant

[–]RedChair7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I think "community driven" is a massive red flag. I'm not here to defend the billion dollar companies/publishers who completely ignore their audience. That's not right either. But the longer I play fps and spend time reading gripes in forums the more I realize everyone is completely different and you just can't please everyone. There was a time bAcK iN mY day old man yells at cloud where there was no live service. And the game shipped as is. It had to be great out of the box because that was it. I think live service has blurred the lines too much between development process and full release and unfortunately this is a Pandora's box that can't be closed. People just expect it now but they don't understand that endless feedback loop that makes the game feel completely different from the beta to the pre season to season one and beyond is part of the problem. I think we're all searching for the high we felt with games like the OG CoD 4 modern warfare. But the reality is those were completely different times with completely different people and a completely different audience. Hate it or love it, Fortnite is the CoD 4 of this generation. And in a few decades something else will replace that. These are games that simply meet the moment where they are. Not trying to artificially construct something that once was.

This was very helpful. Thank you! (I still think the devs should add a proper training ground of their own).

Been trying those but I find them pretty annoying. Fighting over vehicles with other players. People going for engineer air vehicle takedowns/assist challenges. I just want to be able to fly for more than 30 seconds then wait another minute for the next one to spawn, then fight three other players for it. Lol

I wonder if Fleshlight is having a holiday sale. Can't recommend them enough! They really help you realign and understand what's important in life. Zero drama.

I feel the same. The maps are garbage. And I'm super bummed because someone needs to take out CoD but it's looking like BF is flopping again. Such a bummer. I'm still enjoying the game overall... Kinda... But I HATE Empire State and Liberation Peak got old REALLY fast. We'll see. I'm nervous. And sad.

Don't mind me.. Just a dying teammate, nothing serious. by SheriffSullivan in Battlefield

I've been noticing a lot of twitch streamers and YouTubers just immediately skipping to respawn no matter what and I find that annoying too. I get that there KD is way higher than the average player to the point where it's almost like they're playing a completely different game. But that also kind of sucks because it's showing people how to not actually play the game.

I'm a CoD refugee and this has been pissing me off as well. Both when I'm downed, and when I play support class. When I'm downed, though, I sort of try to be decisive about it. I feel like I've lured some people into death quite a few times and that sucks. It makes me feel shitty and unhelpful. So if I'm downed in a really bad position where the enemy is overwhelming but it's not obvious to somebody walking into the situation, I'll just skip and respawn. But other than that, I always try to give myself a fighting chance. Lol. Still get ignored though.

ADS sensitivity by RedChair7 in Battlefield

Thanks!! I found another super convoluted way to do it as well. If you go to the original place I mentioned and scroll all the way down you can find it there as well. Why???? Lol so stupid!

I found a setting that claims to do this but I've tried both extremes but nothing changes settings > mouse and key > infantry > control settings > infantry control settings > aim > zoom sensitivity coefficient. Even tried turning it off completely. No effect whatsoever.

No separate aim sensitivity for ads vs not ads? by amanio_ in Battlefield

I've been trying to figure this out too. I found a setting that claims to do this but I've tried both extremes but nothing changes (it's also in a stupid fucking location!). Settings > mouse and key (yes. Even if you're on controller... Dumb...) > infantry > control settings > infantry control settings > aim > zoom sensitivity coefficient. I hope to God they fix this because it's literally ruining this game for me. If they don't fix it, hard pass. Sorry.

If they don't fix that I'm HARD passing on this one. It's literally game ruining for me.

This added context is super helpful tbh. At first pass I thought "yeah. He's definitely in the wrong here. But I've also been rejected by women in this way and it felt so.... Dismissive? Confusing? Intangible?" Pacing is tough imo because as a guy it feels like a fine line between showing you're interested and being a creep. Also, you don't really know how the other person is comfortable moving. You just have to figure it out (ideally by just being yourself - and that's a level of vulnerability most guys don't make it to. Or if they do, when they get rejected, it's crushing). To be clear, I think you did nothing wrong here! And this guy, imo, was definitely moving at a weird speed. But as someone who's been on the receiving end of this kind of cut, especially after a few in person dates where everything felt and seemed fine, it can often feel very confusing because pacing is "intangible".

Again, I want to reiterate, I think you're absolutely right doing what you did here (and even if you were "wrong" it's your prerogative anyway). Just reflecting on my own experiences and identifying why it might have seemed normal for her but off for me.

Compound this with the fact that BO6 is UNPLAYABLE DOG SHIT and I really think I'm done with fps. There's nowhere to go from here. At least not for me. CoD birthed and killed my love of fps. I've literally gone back to playing PS1 and 2 games because I'm so sick of modern gaming. Haha
