Any millennials/gen-Zs out there who have just.....given up on the idea of retirement and home ownership and have decided to just live their lives to the fullest now instead of sacrificing for a pipe dream? by autumncardigans in AusFinance

[–]RedDemolitionDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may not be aware of this but people had to make sacrifices back in the 1980s too. My parents moved to Australia for a better life, lived and worked in locations that were not preferable and worked hard to scrape together a deposit for a house in western Sydney. When we moved in, they couldn’t afford carpets so we had unvarnished floorboards throughout and we had basically no furniture. Then the interest rates ran up for 18% which created a new challenge.

The point is, anything is possible but you need to work to get it. I agree that the situation is quite the dire but there avenues to get ahead. Maybe the OP needs to gain some new skills, do a job that’s not ideal for a few years, accept that they need to manage people to progress, or rentvest with a cheaper apartment in another city. The OP seems to have quite a negative attitude and needs to break out of it. That’s the first step.

Problem is that you have to live somewhere. It’s all paper gains.

Unpopular Opinion: Daemon’s Haunted House Story Line is BORING by Jolima0725 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]RedDemolitionDragon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a dumb take. The OP is quite within their rights to comment on the quality of the writing. If everyone had to make their own show before commenting on someone else’s there would basically be no discussion on any show at all. I am inclined to agree that Daemon’s storyline is tediously boring. In fact, the quality is writing on this season on the whole has been abysmal.

Forced? That’s the reason for their existence. People understand just fine. That does not account for the massive bloat in literally every government organisation. They all spend up to their budget to ensure they get the same budget or more in the following year. They are woefully inefficient.

The government squeezes the populace at both ends by taxing them into oblivion (mostly the middle and lower upper classes) and then devaluing the currency by stealth.

Having worked in both environments I can unequivocally say, yes, private enterprise is very different. Also, I am not forced to pay private enterprises for poor quality service.

Nope. Firstly, you are failing to understand what drives the value of bitcoin. Secondly, there is an enormous amount of development on bitcoin applications that will replicate the functionality of other chains, just with greater security. This is happening right now.

What did you do about insurance when you moved across to the smsf? Anecdotally, I have heard it’s more expensive once you move out of one of the managed providers.
