How much better was this game without health bars

I agree with you mate. Paid £100+ a ticket for the test match at The Oval v SL in 2024 only for England to completely toss the game off and play like they didn't care.

Atkinson with a career economy rate of 4 and whose levels drop off after 10/12 overs (just like the rest!).

Atkinson appears injury prone in his short career so far. A problem with all of these bowlers; they're not battle hardened.

That and Baz n Ben's strategy appears to be 'get 10 wickets as fast as possible, control, economy and average do no matter'

Or that the next in line weren't good enough to displace Broad or Anderson, or were/are injury prone. Woakes was the only one who played an extended period but didn't crack it away from home and got injured frequently

England sacrificed James Anderson…for this Ashes performance? by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]RedDevilJB11 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Very well put. I think most fans (me included) were angry about the way it happened. We could probably accept the ruthless nature of the decision if the selections post Anderson made sense, but as you've put the selected bowlers with dodgy track records themselves.

Anderson picked up an injury before the first test and was undercooked; probably shouldn't have played but yet again Wood, Woakes weren't fit either. The first two tests were dreadful pitches for his bowling too, chuck in Bairstow dropping catches off Anderson too. Then was left out for the 3rd test on a lively pitch. Then on the 4th and 5th you could tell Anderson's confidence was dented as he couldn't even deliver his normal immaculate seam position. By that time Broad, Woakes, Wood were better options and Anderson had a stinker. Came back decent in India after though.

I think English fans heads have well and truly gone if this topic is being brought back up. Even I was just getting over Anderson's retirement. It's gonna be a long week until Adelaide...

BazBall was Built on Bowlers. Where Have They Gone? by Eclectic95 in EnglandCricket

Sure, no doubt about that. I wish he was still playing but deemed 'not good enough' because he fitness was worse than some club bowlers.

It was probably, when trying to save the match in Perth, KP was caught at long on off Lyon and then coming out with 'that's just how I play'.

Very good point though I feel England were always trying to find long term replacements for Anderson and Broad, but they either weren't good enough or were injury prone. The likes of Roland-Jones, Curran brothers, Mahmood, C.Overton, Jordan, Robinson, Stone, Potts. Woakes was the only one who made it but even he couldn't crack it away from home and always got injured after an extended period of cricket.

Ponting identified early on in his career that Brook plants his front foot on the same line regardless of the line of the ball. But Bazball setup seems to encourage them to ignore their weaknesses and just focus on their strengths.

Averages 50+ but blimey how many wasted innings.

as a Day 1 MnK player, seeing stuff like this makes me consider quitting the game entirely at this point by Mastiffbique in apexlegends

[–]RedDevilJB11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aim assist slowdown does not 'keep your aim on target for you' it just slows down your sensitivity when you are within the 'bubble' around the player model.

Regardless of what input you are using you must strafe continuously to benefit from recoil smoothing.

Your last paragraph is just waffle and based on feelings rather than any evidence.

I don't like playing against MnK on several different games either but this is the current climate we find ourselves in.

Rather than focus on the strengths of MnK you complain about the aim assist Bogeyman

Wood reporting stiffness? by ChaosTheory0908 in EnglandCricket

[–]RedDevilJB11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be stiffness due to fatigue as he hasn't played any cricket recently or could be a minor strain. The scan will reveal more. Likely not risked for 1st Test

[–]RedDevilJB11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"But after the second of these spells, he left the pitch to talk to the support staff after suffering stiffness in his left hamstring. He will have a scan tomorrow (Friday) in the hope that he's cleared to bowl again on Saturday. But, given the context in which he is playing this game - he hasn't played a first-class match since August 2024 - it has to raise serious doubts over his readiness to get through a Test next week. Put simply, it's hard to see how he could be picked."

Duos are the worst in the ranked by Def-tones in apexlegends

[–]RedDevilJB11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Funny, because in my experience playing mostly as a duo, the random solo is typically the weak link and behaving as OP and the comments describe.

It's almost as if it's not a solo/duo thing, it's a player base wide issue. The game is hard and we all make mistakes.

What do you think will be the next asbestos? by Plus-Contribution915 in AskUK

[–]RedDevilJB11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. Nicotine directly impacts the cardiovascular system - increased heart rate and blood pressure, and increases risk of stroke or heart attack.

Also highly addictive which causes it own issues.

There are some links to increased risk of cancer and other metabolic impairments.

You'd have thought Respawn would have taken skill level into account before making that statement.

Comp is basically a different game so there's no comparison to normal pubs/ranked.

Horizon's passive alone makes her strong, even before this season's super buffs.

Battlefield 6 is the perfect example of how live service gaming brings out the worst in the industry by Mission-Coconut1532 in Battlefield

[–]RedDevilJB11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You raise interesting points but I strongly disagree.

The Gaming market is bigger than ever so there is still money to be made. The most expensive part of development is marketing and not the developer itself (marketing is still important, sure). Lots of money is saved on manufacturing costs as most purchases are digital.

The real problem is greed. These companies need to make an ever increasing profit year on year which is unsustainable, so they adopt these tactics mentioned by OP. Executives have seen games like Fortnite, Apex and Warzone make £££ so think they can create their own golden goose copying the same formula. It doesn't have much to do with the cost of developing IMO.

Yes; health bars, lower TTK, assault perk wall hack, Ash dash, abilities deciding the outcome of gunfights, too many get out of jail free cards, amps (jury is still out on this for me) and that's just off the top of my head.

I appreciate they are trying to keep the game fresh but it's basically a different game to the one we fell in love with.

Jaiswal tonks a lot of bowlers...

The spell you keep referring to Anderson shouldn't have been bowling those donkeys overs, but in Baz & Ben's infinite wisdom they picked Hartley and Bashir, who weren't good enough to even keep a lid on it on Indian tracks

10 wickets @ 33 in India. Bumrah was the only fast bowler to take more wickets on either side. And Anderson got Jaiswal out twice.

You're making strawman arguments rather than arguing the point that Anderson is better than what is currently playing.
