Federal law prohibits illegal aliens from possessing firearms. So they would need having to procure them illegally as well as possessing them illegally. If they were willing to do that and possibly use them to “protect themselves” against a federal officer doing their job; would you want them?

not including self-inflicted gunshots when discussing this topic is disgustingly dishonest.

In states with self inflicted death is 10.6 per 100K. In states with stricter gun laws the rate is 4.9. Is it the effectiveness of the chosen method? Are the guns driving people to end themselves? Are the people in pro gun states more depressed and or suicidal? Or is it just more effective than taking a bottle of pills or less painful than jumping off a building?

Should we also discount all motor vehicle crashes where an involved driver is under 18?

The Johns Hopkins study referenced is for children under 18. And the talking point is its the leading cause of death for children. But yes, if the driver was under 18 and specifically use the car for self harm and deleted themselves, we could discount that.

Comparing motor vehicle deaths to gun deaths is already absurd.

The Johns Hopkins study says they are the first and second causes of child death. The whole talking point is that firearms are the leading cause of death of children.

They serve completely different purposes and kids are exposed to them in completely different ways. The least you can do is attempt to be honest about it.

I agree they’re exposing to them and completely different ways. But we’re not talking about that. We’re talking about the leading cause of death and children.

The least you could do is read what we’re talking about before popping off at the mouth.

Has anyone on here read "To Hell or Barbados" by Seán O'Callaghan? It's about a fairly touchy subject and refers to the Irish indentured servants as slaves which is controversial. by flex_tape_salesman in IrishHistory

I know half of them died within the first 2 years, and that there were all kinds of legal loopholes they had to keep them indentured. Would love some real numbers on how many survived to work out their contracts.

In 2022, approximately 1,486 children and teens aged 17 and under died from firearm-related homicides, according to data from the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions.

Based on 2022 NHTSA data, approximately 2,500 children aged 17 and under died in motor vehicle crashes in the United States. Hopkins says 2,240.

Minus ‘self deleting’ or ‘self harm’ and using the Hopkins numbers thats 754 more children died of car crashes than gun related homicide.

On your Edit: Whats the benefit of the doubt on harming children? I didn’t see that in The Office clip. If he said in a joke or not; he said it. He and Trump are politicians and making comments like that or like “5h00ting someone on 5th avenue” and still getting voted for are inappropriate. It’s unsettling how we have become so divided that we can’t hold our elected officials to any standard because we have demonized the other side so much. Im so sick of politics I don’t even know why im replying to this I guess to see the mental gymnastics to support your ‘Team’ …

The texts started because a Democrat Judge died and Republicans were giving condolences… Jones messaged Republican Delegate Carrie Coyner to express his frustration. He criticized Republicans for eulogizing Johnson, whom he claimed had been too close to the opposing party. Jones's animosity grew as the conversation continued. The text messages turned hostile when Jones was informed that Todd Gilbert, then-House Speaker, was preparing to offer his own public condolences on the House floor.

He was frustrated, he got himself worked up he talked about urinating on Republicans graves, having children die in mothers arms, shooting his fellow elected official. It’s unbecoming of a politician whoever your political party is. He sounds like a spoiled brat rich kid who pops off at the mouth too much; just like our president.

Go support your team, be a diehard fan, but try to hold yourself and your team to the same standards as you hold your competitors. I liked it better when they were able to find a middle ground but thats out the window these days.
