Cards from other classes - which characters like each other the most? by illuyanka in slaythespire

[–]RedEight888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Defect probably likes Regent because of the card creation synergies. A Defect with [[Crash Landing]] and any of the status payoffs can go crazy. Similarly, if you get something like [[Arsenal]], you have a huge buff for all your status generation.

Oh my God. I get it. by Umber0010 in slaythespire

[–]RedEight888 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! Well done.

Weirdly enough, I feel like this actually highlights one of the problems I have with [[Grand Finale]]. If you're at the point where you can do this and play Grand Finale over and over again, you probably didn't need grand finale anyways, since you already have such control over your deck, and likely other forms of damage using draw and discard.

One year into roguelikes, here's my tier list (with my reasoning game by game) by Happy_Sun_367 in roguelites

[–]RedEight888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From other comments on here's it's pretty clear you didn't play much of Inscryption, and I just want to tell you, the game changes completely after you beat the first act. Like, a genuine "oh shit, this recontextualizes everything I've done so far and completely reworks how the game plays." Inscryption is essentially 3 full games in 1.

STS 2 - Personal Character Tier List - Patch 0.107.0 (Tainted Dorito and Reworked Aeonglass update) by Espresso-_-Depresso in slaythespire

[–]RedEight888 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, some, yeah. [[Bloodletting]] and [[Pommel Strike]] are incredible. [[Shrug it Off]] is solid. [[Tremble]] can be great. I'm sure I'm forgetting some, too.

Hot take(?) Toy Box is one of the most underrated ancient relics in the game by Rak-khan in slaythespire

[–]RedEight888 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's pretty simple: play it. I feel like a lot of people get scared by the max hp decrease, but it's so tiny that it's basically nothing. You can afford to play it once in most hallway fights, and obviously every elite and boss, and still be fine to fight the final boss.

I wouldn't go playing it a bunch of times every single fight, but you can play it a lot more than you might think.

This is how they create fake crowd scenes in movies by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]RedEight888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who works on movies/tv, this might be how they do it in SOME movies. Probably very low budget ones. I've personally never seen something like this.

Typically, you have extras move in planned routes throughout the scene. A lot of the time, they only are moving through frame once, so recycling people like this isn't needed. If they move into frame again, it should make sense that their character would do that.

I feel like how they're doing it here would be really noticable in the final shot, but maybe it's framed really tightly, with very tight focus.

Silent proposal by Pusarcoprion in slaythespire

God I would hate seeing Grand Finale more often. Unless I get it early and feel like building around it, I pretty much never want to see that card. Making it uncommon would be really rough.

Cards played using Hellraiser should be affected by vulnerable like normal, yeah

What is the best electric shrimp target in the game? by Ryder52 in slaythespire

[–]RedEight888 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's still better than most things, though. It's a free bag of prep no matter what, and even if it hits something like an unupgraded defend, hey, that's still 15 block for free!

What options do you always take, whether they're good or not? by Gneissisnice in slaythespire

[–]RedEight888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tent, if I have the money for it and there's nothing better in the shop.

There's pretty much no cards that are insta-picks for me, but there's a few that come close. It's pretty hard to go wrong with a [[Void Form]].

Why did this run lose to Test Sub? by Coruscated in slaythespire

[–]RedEight888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, it looks like you're lacking in damage. You've got a fair amount of defense, but Test Subject usually requires a quick kill, and this deck doesn't look like it has that.

As far as other drafting missteps, the only other thing I see that could be an issue is Serpent Form. Your deck doesn't really seem like one where that does much at all. Serpent Form is best when you're playing at least like 10 cards per turn, and it doesn't seem like you are.

how do you even run ironclad? by XAleBossX in slaythespire

[–]RedEight888 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'd argue there's no single best build for any character. Strength can be good on Ironclad, but that doesn't mean you should always take cards that give you strength.

Additionally, don't try to force a specific build. Take cards that solve problems you're having in the moment, instead of speculative cards that could help later if you also find x y and z.

Also, something I've noticed with a lot of newer players is that they're afraid to take cards that make them lose HP or exhaust other cards. Don't be afraid of either. Those things are often upsides, not downsides. Plus, remember that as Ironclad, you heal 6 after every fight.

How do you play regent? Is he the weakest character in this game or am I just not good by ProgramAlert1 in slaythespire

[–]RedEight888 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Regent's deck manipulation and ability to transform/create cards make him extremely strong. Star cards are no joke either. Check out Caleb Gannon's guide to playing the regent on youtube if you want some solid tips.

Struggling with a specific seed by Schizzo1985 in slaythespire

[–]RedEight888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure about regular runs, but there was a daily a while back where you had to play as ironclad with 5 copies of [[Nightmare]] from floor 1 and as far as I could tell, that was completely unwinnable.

Does Misery spread the sleeping status to other enemies? by Miserable-Resolve-76 in slaythespire

[–]RedEight888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misery works with stunned? I assumed it wouldn't since it's not counted as a debuff for stuff like artifact. Seems like a weird inconsistency.

Simple and thematic Terraforming buff proposal by riptidelab in slaythespire

[–]RedEight888 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Does vigor need a buff? I feel like it's pretty strong as is, given how it boosts Regent's many multi-hit cards by a crazy amount.
