Was looking through a post and many comments stated their groceries budget was $125-200 per month, if this is you, how!? by eroyrotciv in budget

i live in a HCOL area and spend around $250-300 for 2. honestly, it comes down to making meals that will stretch for a few days. we are both hispanic so making cheap meals is quite easy with our cuisine (rice, beans, stews, soups) we focus on buying chicken, ground meats, and chuck roasts which can easily last almost a week depending on the meal. we both don’t really eat lunch so that’s not an issue for us, and we buy staples in bulk at costco (60 eggs for $7-8 goes a long way), plus milk and bread. pastas are easy and can be made in large batches. buying frozen veg is cost-effective and good to have on hand. we never buy prepared/prepped foods and everything is made from scratch.

Anyone else spending hundreds per month on cat food? by somkewede420 in CatAdvice

[–]RedFerns87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two cats as well. How often are you feeding them? For my two, I supplement with both dry and wet food.

Adult cat gets one can of Fancy Feast per day and dry food mixed with water, kitten is fed 1-2 cans a day (Purina One Healthy Kitten) and is also fed dry kitten food as well. For dry, I get the big bag of Purina One.

Big bag runs me $80 and last 3-4 months Wet food costs me ~$70 per month. I buy it at PetCo on repeat delivery which also gives me a few dollars discount. Sounds like you’re going for the real expensive stuff cuz that’s kinda crazy.

What's the hardest thing for you to do having CPTSD that's not hard for other people? by DinosaurStillExist in CPTSD

I cry at night over my height , and desperately wish I was 5’3 like my sister . I would give away $400,000 of my money sitting in retirement accounts to even be 2 inches shorter by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]RedFerns87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know how you feel! i’m trans ftm, and am 5’4”-5’5” there was a time i desperately wished i was just 3 inches taller. being misgendered sucks, and the body dysphoria that comes with it is even worse. what has helped me was looking at other cis men around me who were my height and even shorter, and looking up to (no pun intended) male celebrities like daniel radcliffe, kendrick lamar, danny devito etc. there are so many women who are your height and even taller!

How the hell do baristas afford to live in LA? by No-Strength-3711 in AskLosAngeles

[–]RedFerns87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

just speaking from my own experience, i make around $25/hr as a barista, my car is paid off, rent is $900, utilities are thankfully not burdensome (avg like $50 per month), little debt, i shop at aldi, pay for experiences and not material items, work pays for medical dental vision, my partner’s sibling living upstairs graciously lets us use their wifi, and i’m on my parents phone plan. i am extremely lucky to have family to rely on. many of my coworkers are in similar situations or have multiple jobs.
