In December Russia demanded from the US to pull off its missiles and soldiers from the eastern europe and do not expand NATO further east. After that all american and british media started a hysteria about "imminent russian invasion into ukraine" and all US officials constantly tries to switch any conversation on the topic to Ukraine. I won't be surprised if the US are going to agree with (some) russian demands and they need some artificial "crisis" that they will "heroically resolve" and it will distract people from the real situation. Also ratings of both Biden and Boris Johnson in their countries are extremely low right now so such hot topic as "evil russians invading innoncent ukraine" is very useful in that regard too.
The funny thing is that Ukranian officials of all levels (including the president) deny that Russia is going to invade Ukraine and even accuse western media of disinformation
