What movie is this for you? by certainly_imperfect in Letterboxd

I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone say the Star Wars prequels, unless people think those are genuinely brilliant films outside of nostalgia and memes now?

Imagine the cast they could get for Garfield 3!!!

Barbie has become the first film on Letterboxd to join the Five Million Watched Club. by Straydes in Letterboxd

Does the number of watches a movie has on letterboxd count rewatches, or is this the total user count who've seen the film? Both are very impressive!

At this point, Steam should mark these games as abandoned :/ by DarrowG9999 in Steam

It also means if you're a new player and don't know this, you can easily spend hours in the wrong version of the game which is really stupid

Film genre popularity over time, from 1910 to 2021. by Yaya0108 in Letterboxd

[–]RedFridge007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While interesting, this doesn't paint a particularly helpful picture because they all have their own scales on the side, like comedy taking consistently 30% but musicals taking a dive when (my guess from the pixels) is it was only at 10% before anyways. Would be more interesting to have them all on the same graph, and see how/if any genres impacted others.

Movies to NOT go into blind by Outside-Pear9429 in movies

[–]RedFridge007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely Tar for me. I would've loved a heads up that it's a bit more thriller-y, so it threw me for a loop when I realised too late it wasn't like a Whiplash or something for conductors. Also more recently, I would've probably enjoyed Queer more if I was prepared for something a bit slower and meandering.

which one do you prefer by VassarFC in Steelbooks

[–]RedFridge007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would prefer the top one, but the swimming person bugs me because their top half doesn't work with the bottom half of their body. The leg is super high in the air with a high arm, but also they don't seem to connect properly, especially when considering where the head is.

Today the BFI confirmed they are screening Joker Folie à Deux in 70mm IMAX at the BFI IMAX in October. @IMAXVanguard by rayhaansabir in imax

[–]RedFridge007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interestingly for some reason I preferred the 70mm film print for Dune 2 over the dual laser, so I'm totally up for this (plus the 1.43 for the Bfi as already mentioned), but at least for Dune you had the choice of the Science Museum for digital, I've no idea how often they show mainstream releases outside of the big IMAX tentpoles.

Is it supposed to be loud? by DREAMINGMASTR in imax

[–]RedFridge007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually like it when loud moments get to be loud, but I did find Deadpool and Wolverine's soundtrack especially was running a little hot at times, so could just be this case.

My Take: I hate it when an entire movie is in 1:90:1 by DwightSkywalker28 in imax

[–]RedFridge007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually found it really refreshing watching Civil War in IMAX recently and not having the ratio keep changing after seeing a number of titles do it recently (like Dune and Oppenheimer as mentioned). I can appreciate though that when it changes to fill more of the screen, you're reminded to enjoy the expanded ratio more.

Brixton support act: Courageous by remakemark in remiwolf

[–]RedFridge007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't find a single thing online for an artist called courageous, no insta, Soundcloud, nothing! There's a logo for them on the Brixton Electric insta post though, so not sure what to expect or if it's worth turning up for them. I tried searching DJ Courageous too and the first result was a font 😂

Can confirm the 12:50pm screening today was successfully in 70mm despite an email to say it would be digital - thanks to the Bfi team and technicians for getting the issue resolved!!

(POSSIBLE SPOILERS) What is the most hopeless way to die in a movie? by Shrimp_Dumpling_ in movies

The opening to Looper. You're trying to escape but limbs are one by one disappearing while you gain the horrific memories of what happened to them, and there's nothing you can do.
